Used the old Companion before and I ordered this new one. This book is excellent and helps the students in the language grasp the essential things that one needs to know. It walks you through gently to expand your vocabulary and learn the most important verbs that you need to master. I have worked with a number of books that teach Arabic and this is the best I have seen. It guides the learner through well designed and clear tasks right away without being overwhelmed. There are plenty of exercises to reinforce what the student is learning. I was going to have my student purchase another book but after seeing this book I didn't need to as there is plenty of scope and varied exercises that will keep a student busy learning for a long time.I guess what makes this book different is the modern approach in going through the topics. There are better Arabic language books but the Companion is the best as a TEXTBOOK. Not very clear but the book is supplemented by a website where the audio files reside along with other useful free resources.The audio files are on the Interlingo website as the book clearly states on the first pages.

Good spread of topics and a lot of text - just what you need. However, some of the images are pixelated meaning they are difficult to read, hence dropping a star. Not explained in the description is that you must be a member of the website to access the listening materials (this is free). For a premium membership of £1/year you get access to the vocab lists (Edexcel have a free one on their website), audio transcripts, SOW and worksheets which I think is great value.

The book content seems ok but it comes in BLACK AND WHITE so not motivating at all!Some texts are clear to readIt DOES NOT COMES as listed with:-Listening files-listening transcript-answer keyRevision quizzesVery disappointed!

Found this book useful for preparing kids to take they exams. Very fast delivery. Would recommend this if you study Arabic.
