Super Convenient and Fast!
I am super happy and SPOILED to have found this device! I bought it in 2017. Today is March 25, 2019.I'm not saying you should throw out ALL of your knives... just most of them (or sell them or give them away).I'm not saying you should throw out your hand held shredders/graters. They have a their place in the kitchen also. And I am not saying you should stop using your larger food processors, either. They have their times and places... ALL of them are great accessories for the kitchen. However, this little gadget is an added convenience and it's quick! There are smaller hand-powered choppers out there on the market but those smaller ones make it feel like I am cutting the lawn with a weed-eater instead of a lawnmower... useful, just not as efficient. I have become SOOO spoiled, in fact, using a smaller one (like I did last week) made the job feel INCONVENIENT. I had to remind myself that I COULD be doing all this chopping with only a knife! That's how I see this dicing gadget from KUHN RIKON. The Size is great (although I would love to have a larger one). The smaller ones I have tried (from different companies) simply feel like your not getting enough done...EASE OF USEOn occasion, I have had some difficulty with some harder items (i.e. carrots, onions and brussels sprouts). My wife even more so. I learned that the trick is to not fill the chopper TOO full of those items. For me, that means a little less than half way full. For my wife, that means just enough to cover the bottom of the chopper. At any rate, in just a few pulls, you will have nicely chopped and diced the contents. The more you pull, the finer the dicing and chopping. The more you fill the chopper, the more pulls you will likely need to give the chopper to achieve your desired consistency. The additional white plastic attachment is also a great plus. It helps throw the food from the bottom of the chopper back up into the blade area for easier chopping. Last month, we ended up losing this white piece of the chopper but the device seems to be doing its job just fine.As for softer items (walnuts, peppers, beets, tomatoes, celery, garlic, apples, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc...)... no problem. I have even used it to cut up parsley and cilantro to satisfaction.DOWNSIDES1. I recommend you clean the device immediately after using. A simple rinse does the job most of the time. A gentle scrub with non-toxic soap is needed, on occasion. The lid (with the pulling mechanism that drives the blades) should not be submerged in water. A quick and light rinse with water or a quick wipe with a wash cloth or paper towel has been just fine for us.2. Noisy. The pull mechanism is a bit noisy. It truly does mimick the sound that is made by a lawn mower or chainsaw, only not AS loud.3. The pull handle is somewhat small. It is round and not grabbed onto easily. In fact, only the tips of two of my fingers will fit behind the handle/knob in order to pull it away from the housing and only then can I get my entire hand around it.I have learned to deal with these issues. Even so, there is room for improvement. I still give a 5 star rating

buy this chopper now while you can still get it
i am the chef and chief bottle washer in my house and have most of the kitchen tools you need to do the job. BUT - i used to have the old style upright food chopper with the handle that sticks straight up. it was not big enough to hold a decent amount and you would have to bang down the plunger very hard over and over to chop the stuff up. and on top of that the food would get stuck in the awful blade that was wavy in design. so you would have to get the food unstuck over and over again. and it really sucked to clean. this unit is twice as big around - holds a lot - and all you have to do is slice the food into chunks, drop them in and put the lid on. then you pull the cord 5 or 6 times and the rotating blades puree the stuff in no time. so easy to clean as well. i wish i had known about these 20 years ago. i will buy another just to have an extra. best 14 bucks you'll ever spend

Great for making baby food
I already own a magic bullet and when my son first started eating I used that to make all his purees. Recently he has been wanting to have more texture in his food. I tried to do this with the bullet but that machine really wants to give you a puree and I was not getting a consistent chop with his food.My mother has aĀ KitchenAid Pro Food Chopper, Black Ā which does a good job but you can't do much at a time and if you put too much in there it all falls out when you lift up the chopper.I was searching reviews on amazon when I came across this chopper and decided to give it a try even though it was $10 more than the KitchenAid. I'm glad I took the chance. This little thing is great. I use it to cut up whatever we are eating for dinner into a size that my son can mush with his gums to eat. I've also used it to chop onions and herbs. When chopping food for my son, I love the fact that I can put more in the bowl and therefore get his serving done in one step rather than having to do a little at a time. It's also nice that the chopper attachment is on the top of the bowl which you remove leaving your food in the bowl. Nothing to spill all over my counter. When chopping onions I've found that it's best to pre-chop. I cut my first onion (large) into about 6 pieces and the blade got stuck when I tried to pull the cord. After taking it out and cutting into about 12 pieces instead I got a very nice dice with just 4 pulls on the cord.I've also used this to chop herbs using the little attachment that helps "lift" small or light items. The blades are wickedly sharp, so be careful when handling and make sure to use the cover. I have nothing bad to say about this chopper and would gladly recommend it to anyone.

excellent chopper!
i use mine to chop onions, celery, pickles, and even the hard-boiled eggs for my egg salad. saves lots of time, easy clean-up. inexpensive gift for newlyweds. the more pulls you do, the finer the chop. no electricity. a nice little touch is the plastic wiper below the bottom blade. i haven't tried meat or hard vegs like carrots yet. jalapenos, bell peppers, olives - ok. herbs may be a problem if the pieces stick to the walls, so maybe you could add onion or something or scrape the walls down after a couple pulls. one of my best kitchen gadgets.

So much better than I honestly thought it would be
I had a little rechargeable chopper that worked great until one day it didn't. I took it apart and everything inside was rusty and corroded. I went on a search for another one, and found this Kuhn Rikon Chop Chop instead that had great reviews. Well, add me to the list of happy purchasers. It works way better than I imagined. I put some garlic in it and 15 pulls on the handle and they are finely minced. The blades are very sharp. I recommend you try it if you're looking for a handy little chopper.

Better Than I Expected
These pictures are of my first use of this chopper. After an initial washing, I thought this garlic would be a good challenge for it. It performed better than I expected. It saved a lot of chopping on my part that is usually necessary. BEWARE: as others have said, these blades are extremely sharp!
