Not neccessarily suporting a good cause
While you can't beat the price and the flavor is okay, what i take exception to is the notion that this companies motives are "pure". They only sponsor/deal with people who are Christian and have a note from their leader. To exclude non Christians from adopting is ridiculous, having a Christian only policy is abhorrent and certainly no guarantee the kids are raised ethically and in safety...

My go-to brand for the past year
I've bought a 5 lb bag of Gobena coffee each month for the past year. Mostly I stick with the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, which is delicious. I used to only drink dark coffee, like French Roast. Little did I know I was missing out on the TRUE awesomeness of this beverage. Now I drink only economical, QUALITY, light roast coffee, and this is an excellent example. This Peruvian coffee is equal to their Yirgacheffe, and you can't go wrong with either. I've been a little less impressed with their other offerings. I like that this company donates 100% of their profits to charity, my only problem with it is that the charity in question is a Christian charity. I have no issue with any religion, but I don't think charity should be offered in exchange for religion, it should come from the heart with no strings attached. Christian missionaries are one of the last vestiges of colonialism that are still attacking traditional cultures and belief systems all around the world, and the "here's a place to stay in exchange for accepting Jesus as your personal savior" really rubs me the wrong way. Anyway, I would be thrilled with this brand if they donated their profits to a quality, secular charity.

I think the aroma and taste are very fine
Many years ago I graduated from pre-ground generic coffee such as Chock Full o' Nuts to whole bean, then moved again to organic. So I have certain requirements for my coffee but I'm not an authority on the topic, therefore can't accurately tell you of overtones and such. I've tried numerous whole bean, organic coffees and found many that taste good to me, but none so overwhelmingly amazing that I'll but only that. I prefer to keep sampling and recently tried Gobens Peruvian Organic and after six weeks of trial I find it to be as good as any coffee that I've home brewed, and better than many. In fact, I like this to the point I will order more, but I'll probably still not lock into this only and will continue to sample. But I won't be surprised if I buy this again now and then.

So this my eighth order of this coffee
When you find something you really like and enjoy stick with it. I have been tempted to try some of the other coffee's from Gobena just don't think in my opinion you could find better. From the moment the package was opened the aroma was the best. The taste was even better. No bitterness great taste. And a great company with great customer service. I am a coffee lover and not prone to compliment or recommend an item unless it's worth the money paid for it. And a company with a heart.

Great flavor and responsible product!
I am very picky about my coffee. My husband and I both prefer what we make at home over any fancy, pricey coffee out there. We have been using the Gobena Peruvian whole beans for about 6 months and love them. They always arrive on time and the smell when I open the box is so lovely. I grind our beans once a week and the flavor is just right every time. I prefer a medium-dark roast that's nice and smooth and recommend this product. I also like that it goes to a good cause.

Love this coffee
I wish I had discovered it earlier. I saw the UPS driver smelling the box as he walked up the driveway so I had to say it was peruvian beans he said it made his whole truck smell good. Best smell and taste for me.

fresh and grand
Of all the Amazon coffee's I have tried this was the best. Delivered on time, well and simply packaged, very fresh and aromatic, roasted perfectly. I was often disappointed with coffee purchases online, if you stick your nose into a new bag of coffee and you want to blow chow it's a sign the coffee's not fresh! Finally one that smells and tastes as good as you hope!

Not a fan of the flavor
The last Peruvian coffee I had was from WorId Market. Their coffee is mouth-wateringly delicious. I was hoping this would be slightly similar. It's not. I like the Gobena business model, but I don't like this coffee. I know taste is subjective, so it's not really fair to give a horrible review. Hence two stars, instead of one. In my defense, my boss could smell this coffee when I brewed it and said it smelled awful.
