Organic Dried Lentils
Very happy with this purchase: lentils are much cleaner than other brands I've purchased from local stores! No dust (who knows what that could be) or detritus. They are in good shape - not broken and without old crumbly discolored parts of lentils, rocks, etc. The bag is plastic and while I was concerned with it breaking during shipping, it was substantial enough and also has a good zip lock feature after opened. Can store in the bag, zipped - rather than have to pour into another container. 5 lbs is bigger than what stores generally carry, however, if you like cooking with lentils....you won't have to inventory many smaller bags. We made a great sausage and lentil stew with potatoes, carrots, and chipotle seasoning. Yum!

my favorite
I love lentils (green or red) and this brand is one of my favorite. I have reordered multiple times - the quality of the product has been always consistent, lentils are clean and taste good. Availability of different bulk sizes is a plus. Packaging is solid, no ripping even when I order big bags and they get thrown over the gate during delivery.

Sproutable and Full of LIFE
For all my grains and beans I look for ones that sprout, meaning the life within them hasn't been destroyed through processing, therefore the wonderful nutritional benefits are maintained. These lentils are great "sprouters" and other products (grains and beans) that I have used from this company sprout as well. This is a good one!

GREAT FOR SPROUTING!
These lentils would be perfect for a first time sprouter. They are obviously very fresh because they sprout very quickly and are delicious. I sprout broccoli seeds too, but they are much more finicky - I wouldn't recommend them for a first time sprouter. The above photo is 1/2 cup of lentils sprouted for about 3 days.

ORGANIC, TASTY & MORE PROTIEN THAN MEAT.
I EAT THEM DAYS IN A ROW! AT FIRST I WAS SPICING THEM WITH GARLIC PEPPER. WITH THAT THEY REMINDED ME OF SPICED BEEF I GOT IN A SPANISH RESTAURANT IN FLORIDA. THEN ONE DAY I FORGOT THE SPICE & DISCOVERED THEY TASTE MORE BEEFY THAN GREEN! NOT YOUR TYPICAL VEGGIE! I LOVE EM'! AND AGAIN, ORGANIC LINTILS, ORGANIC PINTO BEANS, & ORGANIC RED BEANS, I CAN'T BUY THEM ANYWHERE ELSE, SO THANK GOD FOR AMAZON! BUY THE ORGANIC PINTO BEANS, & ORGANIC RED BEANS & MIX THEM TOGETHER!

Disgusting and stale lentil beans
I have previously purchased almonds and pinto beans from this company ("Food to Live") and so thought these lentils would be high quality. To the contrary, they are degraded and actually disgusting. I have to throw out the entire bag. First, they are filthy. I rinsed them 5 times, thoroughly, and yet still, each time I kept rinsing, dirt and small particles kept rising to the surface. Second, after cooking them, they task old, stale and terrible, really gross. Note that I have been cooking lentil soup for many years so the problem is not with the recipe. Too bad, as I will have to now cross out "Food to Live" off of my shopping lists.

always good!
I've ordered bags of lentils from Food to Live before and always appreciate their freshness and the absence of miscellaneous tiny rocks or other kinds of plant life that I have sometimes found in bags of lentils I've bought from other providers.
