A classic that anyone crafting with natural scents and flavors should have handy............
I love this book, it's everything it's made out to be and more! I refer to this book very often. If you're a natural perfumer or flavorist, you NEED this book! I'm so happy that they put out a new edition/reprint(and at a decent price!), as my older copy was quite worn. If you're considering this book, don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed! I have many books in my library that pertain to the subject of botanicals, from books on essential oils , herbs, teas to perfumery, incense, and fragrant gardening, and of these books, I use this book the most for reference. When it comes to creating naturally scented crafts, this is the book you need for quick reference. It's not the only book you'll ever need, but it's one of them.

Great reprint of a must have!
That this book has been reprinted and at an affordable price is a dream come true. Until now, all one could find were old prints at astronomical prices. The size of this soft cover book is impressive and the contents invaluable and a must have for anyone working with perfumery, regardless of level. Hopefully they will follow this with the other two: 'Perfume and Flavor Chemicals' volumes 1 and 2, also a must have and currently selling for too high a price. If you are even remotely into perfumery, get this now, don't wait until it is once again out of print!

More for a serious perfume maker
I am not a perfumer, just interested in aromatherapy. This book was recommended for the author’s ‘excellent’ descriptions of absolutes, essential oils, etc, but that is just a miniscule part. Most of the info was quite technical it seemed to me, and not very useful for my purposes . There are some suggestions for some other oils work well together.

A Must Have For The Flavor and Fragrance Industry
Perfume and Flavor Materials of Natural Origin aka The Arctander is a must have for The Flavor and Fragrance Industry. The two negatives of this book is that it can be hard to find and costly when found. This version resolves both those issues with an affordable and available print that will inspire and educate a whole new generation.

Too hyped up
This book doesnt really help me understand nuances of essential oils any better than the stack of books I already have. Was looking for advanced perfumery tips including blends and perfume test strips.

The best book to have!
It is hard to find good books on this topic written in English. This is my overall "GO TO" reference and I enjoy just thumbing through it. I have learned so much from this author. I highly recommend it for anyone on any level of aromatherapy. It will get your creative juices flowing!

THE reference guide of natural fragrance ingredients.
This book is basically the book version of calling a retired perfumer for advice:You: "Hey Steffan, what can you tell me about Erigeron Oil?"Steffan: "Oh, we usually called it Fleabane oil, and it was in low production because of [A]. Its liquid form is like [B] and it smells kinda like [C]. When it ages it become more [D]. I hope this helps."You: Thank you again Steffan.Steffan: "Just buy my damn book. I couldn't be bothered answering all your enquiries."Although this reference book is dated, particularly when it talks about production. And it doesn't cover every niche ingredient, but it is still highly valuable.
