Lonely Planet Japan (Travel Guide) Paperback – 11 Aug. 2017

Had stopped using Lonely Planet years ago when they descended into being guides only about where to drink. But, took a chance and tried again, and was very pleasantly surprised. Some good tips in this book, including all the obvious places and a decent selection of non-obvious ones too.

Very informative Travel Guide, a must if you are going to Japan, adds everything you need to know & really focuses on the accessibility of travel between the Cities.

I am a fan of lonely planet books, they never disappoint

I'm planning a trip to Japan later this year and this book has been amazing. I didn't know where to start finding reliable information but this book has everything you need to know.

I don't like Lonely planet guides but this one is nice. I used it a lot during my 2 weeks in Japan.I like that it's colourful and easy to find stuff.

Brilliant for areas around Nikko-city, both for site seeing and food. Due to work constraints I had no time to visit elsewhere

Always find lonely planet guides the best all round book for planning your trip and also taking on the road. This one being no exception.

Io adoro tutte le guide della LP e questa non fa per nulla eccezione. Se si conosce l'inglese forse è meglio questa versione rispetto a quella italiana. Consigliatissima

Fairly good condition, and considering it’s “used” the only part about it that has any evidence of use is the top left corner, otherwise I don’t think it was ever read.Excellent price for the book. I know the edition is out of date, but I’m sure it will serve me just fine.

The guide is really good, just as I expected. I'm still in the preparation phase for our trip, so on our return, I'll post an update of this review. I usually prefer paper editions, but in this particular case I'm almost regretting my choice, because the book weighs over 1 lb. That's a lost of ballast to be carrying around.

bon guide, comme souvent avec LP

This book is amazing and helping me feel so much more prepared for our upcoming trip throughout the country in the next few months. These other reviews concerned me, but this book is truly great. Yes - it's big. And it has a TON of information - the Tokyo chapter alone is almost 200 pages. So it's not a "light read" and if you try to approach it that way the book will be hard to navigate. But if you really want to be prepared to see many areas of Japan and have a thorough understanding of the country, get this book. If you either don't have the time or just want a few suggestions for the one area you're staying in, go with the internet. Or for something in between try DK Eyewitness Travel Guide.
