Great Stuff
I was at first hesitant buying this because I thought it might make my hair look extremely greasy. Also, I wasn't looking for the slicked back look but rather a more natural messed 'bed hair' look. I often found that waxes felt too sticky or were hard to distribute into my hair evenly.First thing I noticed was the smell of the product. It has a smoky varnish-like smell. Sounds bizarre but I actually quite like the smell but that may not be everyone's cup of tea.It has the consistency of hair gel. So, taking a small amount with one finger, then rubbing the product into my hands to warm up the product I rubbed it into my hair until I felt adequate that the product had been evenly distributed. One thing to note is that this product will run out a lot faster than wax so you will probably pay more in the long run if you use this product solely. The hold looks natural and gives you the freedom to re-style. My hair after washing can look very fine and the pomade makes my hair look healthier. Obviously, if you use too much then it will look greasy so it may take time to experiment and find the right amount for your hair. When getting it right, it adds thickness and a nice texture to your hair.Washing the product out is extremely easy. One wash and there is no evidence of it still lingering, smell or feel.Overall, great product for a decent price and is definitely worth having alongside other products.

layrite and that it does!!
I've used several pomades over the years such a Dax and Black and Whites to name a few, I have often found them to be incredibly greasy and hard to wash out. This stuff applies as easy as it washes out and smells incredible, much like honeycomb or vanilla very sweet and pleasant the other half loves the scent. It has a strong hold that lasts all day fear not if your pomp starts to flop just apply some water to your comb or fingers and slick that baby back in place! Once water has been mixed it does tend to "set" a little but again just apply some of that good old aqua and BOOM slick and slide that comb right through it.

Amazing for controlling Curly/Wavy hair
As someone with thick, wavy hair that wanted the tight slick hair, I went through a lot of different pomades. After doing some research I found out that the petroleum jelly based pomades hold way too much moisture that can only cause your hair to go wavy/curly after the product has dried after applying.Layrite Deluxe Original Pomade is different. It's water based, so not only does it wash out instantly like a gel, but it dries like a gel. But it acts just like a pomade! It keeps its hold and shine all day, as if you've just applied. If you have curly/wavy hair and want a product with good hold and shine Layrite is the way to go. (Also apply to towel dried hair, if you apply to wet hair it will dry wavy)Couldn't be more happy with the product. Only downside is it is a tad pricey for a tub of gel. If it was slightly cheaper it would have got 5 stars.

Golden.
I've used many products in my hair before and fine they're either too sticky, wet, dry or too strong - the list is endless. This stuff is perfect. It smells great too... a natural shine and a long lasting hold. None of the stickiness of other products. Some tips I'll give: don't use too much, use a brush with it and not a comb and what you do use I'd warm up in your hands first. 5* best product I've used.

Decent Pomade
Overall, a good product and arrived in record time. I have a couple of issues though:- The excessive price when compared with the relative size of the pot. I can quite easily envisage burning through this stuff in no time then having to fork out again not long after, especially considering the recommended "knuckle" size scoop for typical everyday use.- This doesn't hold well on thick hair. At all. I have thick hair and find that when my hair is freshly cut it performs pretty well, however once it starts to grow out it loses a lot of its hold. I eventually have to start using a lot of hairspray because my hair falls out of shape. If you have thick hair then you may want to consider the Layrite Super Hold Deluxe brand which is better than this and closer to 5* for me personally.- Takes an age to dry on wet hair. If you apply to wet hair and move your head around too much your hair will likely begin to sag, fall out of place and generally lose its shape. Had to take a hair-dryer to my hair out of desperation a few times because I needed to head out the door in a hurry.

Great alternative to waxes and clays
Washes out like a gel and holds like a wax. It's true.I prefer this pomade to the usual range of waxes that tend to make your hair tough to brush. I wash my hair every 3 days and apply a very light top-up of pomade each day just to help hold it in a short and neat style. There's a faint coconut scent to it which I like but probably isn't for everyone. My only gripe is that the product is expensive (around £12, depending on when you buy it) whereas it's sold in the US for way less than just a shipping cost. I hope you enjoyed this review.

Best pomade I've ever used.
I have very thick hair which is difficult to control. I have tried many products, e.g. waxes, creams, gels etc but this is by far the best. It applies really easily and dries quickly to produce a nice shiny finish which feels light on the head (even if I have to use more than the average person because of my ridiculously thick hair). Combined with a strong hold hairspray (any brand) and my hair looks exactly the same when I'm leaving work for home, and I work in an operation theatre where I'm constantly putting on and taking off a theatre cap. Highly recommended.

Best hair product on the market
Best hair product on the market. Apply with towel dried hair and shape anyway you want. No stickiness and easily washed out with water. Great hold and can be re-combed if necessary.

It became one of my favorite hair product! 😻
This pomade works great! It holds very well, I use it to catch baby hairs and to smooth out my hairdos. It washes away easily – like they say: it hold like wax and washes like gel! The scent delicate and is unisex. It smells a bit sweet but not too much!

This product changed my Life
I love it. This is by far the best hair product known to man. I usually go through about one jar every two months, but it is so very worth it. The pomade has a very subtle smell to it, maybe a little hint of vanilla in there. Not sure on that. It's easy to scoop out and apply, it holds great for classic styles like the Pompadour. I am writing this review to share how this pomade changed my life. I'm a 18 year old guy with a terrible hairstyle. I do some research about greasers and pompadours, etc. I stumble upon this legendary hairstyle and try to fix one up for myself, I go out to the store and buy a can of Murray's Pomade. This is some real petroleum based stuff we're talking about here. This Murray's stuff is NO joke. I have the cut already and get out the Murray's pomade. All goes well, or at least I thought. I got the hairstyle going, my hands feel like they have been dunked in a bucket of grease and dirty cigarettes, and I think I feel pretty decent. Later that night i was going to take a shower, I hop in and shampoo my hair, but to my dismay. The Murray's is NOT coming out o my hair. It's stuck. I begin to panic in the shower, I'm breaking down at this point after shampooing 8 times with no results. I fall to the bottom of my shower, curled up in a little ball, crying, weeping, ... I do not know who I am at this point. I finally find this product. A Water soluble pomade. Layrite Pomade. I order a jar instantly. I get the product and apply it to my hair, it's flawless, it's beautiful, it's smooth. I get the pomp up and get a nice sharp part with NO hair sticking up out of place. I am very impressed by the Layrite, I go out in town and get compliments left and right. The Layrite pomade has changed my life, after a terrible run in with Murray's, I find this gem and I find myself again. This product made me a believer. It is phenomenal. I shower and it comes out with ONE shampooing, all of it. Great. Very happy guy. I recommend this product to anyone who likes to have a great hairstyle, and a great time.

Layrite, American Crew and Murray's compared
Alright so I've tried out a few different pomades and hair products in general and most of the time I reach for Layrite. The few products I rotate out somewhat regulaly are this, American Crew Pomade and Fiber, and Murray's original pomade. Alright so quick rundown of each product with respect to Layrite. Keep in mind I have hair on the thinner side.American Crew Pomade:- Hold is slightly less strong= Holds for a similar amount of time= Smell is slightly less strong but not as good IMO as Layrite+ AC Pomade I have seen in stores, if you really need it now- More expensive= Washes out easyAmerican Crew Fiber:+ Slightly stronger hold- Sticky application, not really a big deal just unfavorable for me- Doesn't hold for as long- Odd smell, not bad, just smells a little much like a hairstyling product+ Easier to find in stores in my experience- More expensive= Washes out easyMurray's:= Smell is pretty great for both, maybe a little better personally with Murray's+ Definitely cheaper than all these products+ Easier to find in local stores, in my experience- Slightly Sticky application- Somewhat hard to wash out if you use more than a small finger dab- Really hard to get off your hands in one wash+ Excellent hold and pretty good looksSo all products get used, but Layrite to me is more consistent, the hold is strong enough to last through the majority of the day, it is easy to work with and wash out, and it smells great, like a vanilla bean sort of scent although it is a tad strong for some.Murray's would be perfect if it wasn't such a pain to get off your hands, and if someone or something touches your hair its more of a task to get rid of residue vs any of the other products mentioned.AC Pomade and Fiber are both good products, I like the smell of the pomade and the hold isn't as great but still decent, although the price is pretty high. Same with fiber, although the smell is eh, but the matte look and hold are pluses for me.

Good but dries hard and dries hair out
Very easy to apply, medium hold and medium shine. Last long but dries somewhat hard like a gel and you must use some water to re style your hair. Also long term it has dried my hair out significantly more than any other pomade i have ever used. If you want to rework your hair by running your fingers through throughout the day this is not the right pomade for you.

Where has this been all my like.
As you approach 40 with a full head of hair you realize that you should be grateful for the genetics your parents have given you. However, I was apparently the product of the first human-tribble crossbreed. Every barber I have been to in the past twenty years tells me that I have the thickest hair that they have ever seen. To top it off its very straight and when dry without product it puffs out in a completely unawesome white mans fro. I have many different hairstyles and used many different products for twenty years, but nothing tamed my hair, lasted all day and washed out cleanly without paint thinner. Then I found Layrite.Simply put the product is fantastic. It is incredibly easy to work with and the style will last all day. Touch-ups only require a damp cold, but are only necessary when I have done something to mess up the hair. It's water soluble so I am able to simply rinse it out of my hair using conditioner and have had zero problems with build-up or flake. To top it off , it has a clean, classic vanilla scent.
