Superb
Lots to learn to use this guitar processor, but I am impressed 9n all respects. Service when I thought there was a problem (there was not, I was just being stupid about removing the cover of a connector port for USB) was absolutely excellent.

Completely brilliant!
Best purchase ever for sheer flexibility.Amazing fast tracking. Superb layering of four sounds (2 synth and 2 guitar) and more with MIDI out. Great effects section. I added the pickup to my Variax, so I can have can have huge combination of sounds - example - 12 string Martin + 6 string Gibson + piano + string pad all at the same time all layered with effects. Splitting the strings and having the first three strings octaved down to give bass is excellent too. However, you do have to change the way you play for certain sounds. Strumming a piano is no use. You have to play more of a classical or jazz method. Also, light gauge strings can trigger ‘ghost’ notes, so probably minimum of 10s. Free software for editing patches and sounds is very good. Only down side is that you are permanently connected via a not very flexible 13 pin cable, so no chance of wirelessly running around.Only having two effective controllers (expression and control) hinders control a little, but that’s the price you pay for compactness… and there are always MIDI controllers if you desperate. Good news is that the two available controllers are assignable and can control multiple parameters at once in lots of ways - example - expression sliding smoothly between clean acoustic with piano to overdriven Les Paul with string pad.One sad omission is the ability to play the synth sounds from a MIDI keyboard. There is MIDI in, but you can’t play the synth from an external source, only from the guitar. You can set the GR-55 to be used with a bass. Tried the Roland bass pickup in my Ibanez 5 string and no matter how I placed the (specifically designed for 4/5/6 string bass) pickup, I could not get all the strings to be equally sensed. Gave up with that one unfortunately. All in all, I love it and can’t go back to life without guitar synth. However, it does not replace my classical or my Martin. The synth emulation of an acoustic is great if you only want to carry one guitar, but the real thing sounds better.
