I wanted to put this around an extraction fan to stop/reduce noise to outside environment. Is there a face it needs to be fitted？

One side is self adhesive so that needs to be on the inside. It can be cut and has some flexibility but might be tricky to fit around a complicated shape.

I have an electric drum kit, and the bass pedal still makes a thudding noise. If I put this foam underneath, will it stop the thudding and vibration?
