Same Quality Product!!
This was my second time purchasing this product and I was surprised by the recent negative reviews.Firstly, I must commend Naissance on reducing their tub sizes as it was way too big previously, the new tubs are more economic and a better environmental choice.I did experience the ‘grainy’ texture but from experience I know that this is due to the shea butter being melted (to be poured into the new slimmer tubs no doubt) and cooled slowly which causes it to crystallise. I easily remedied this by using the double boiler method to melt down the whole tub until all the grains disappeared, whipped with a mixer, poured into my storage containers and and popped them in the freezer. It’s a bit like tempering chocolate. Freezing forces all the fatty acids to set at the same time so there are no grains and it’s feels as smooth as butter! This batch was just as lovely as the first, very moisturising, easy to manipulate and melt in your hands (after I tempered it) and the smell is the same nutty fragrance I remember when I used to buy shea butter from the local market as a teenager in Nigeria :)

Wow this stuff is incredible
I have trouble with hydrating my skin. The winter wreaks havoc and I find that, no matter what expensive "intense" moisturiser I buy (and I have bought a lot of expensive ones) I tend to wake up in the morning with tight, dry skin. I was having to exfoliate 2 or 3 times per week in order to avoid looking "scaly" when I put make up on. it was awful. Then I discovered this wonderful stuff. It comes in a bucket which is really treble the size it needs to be, but I'm sure I'll make use of it in some way when it comes to recycling! The actual shea butter is awesome. I use it all over my body as well as my face. It makes skin incredibly soft and supple. I no longer wake up with dry skin on my face, and I exfoliate once per week again, if that. I even use it in the morning under make up - it's THAT good! When I start applying make up I think it's going to be a disaster as my face is all shiny from the shea butter, but it just goes on a dream. At the moment I am using pur minerals cc cream over the shea butter. At 42 I don't expect my skin to look as plump and wrinkle-free as it does, but I am mightily pleased. It is a lovely, creamy texture, but is quite hard (like butter out of a fridge) but a few seconds of hand contact softens it up. It would probably mix with a carrier oil quite well to make it more malleable - but I just use it as-is, softening it in my hands before applying. It's very indulgent! At the price, I am astounded at what you get for your money. I highly recommend this to anyone with dry skin, and if you think you need to spend a fortune on moisturisers, think again

Perfect for homemade body butter
A nice big tub of Shea butter. I needed something raw and unrefined as I use this to make my own body butter since I have learned cocoa butter and my skin don't like each other as cocoa butter can clog pores whereas Shea is non-comedogenic. After some other research I have also found that Shea is a good source of vitamins E and A which can help repair skin damage and the caffeic acid can reduce the effects of UV radiation (2009 Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology). Bonus! The smell bothers some people but I find once I mix in some coconut oil, carrier oil and essential oils I get the smell that I want and don't notice the Shea butter smell at all. There is enough in here that I can make 6-8 batches of body butter which can last me at least as many months, so it's very cost effective (only about £2 a month to make my own once you factor in the cost of the other ingredients) and the quality has been really nice as well. It melts quickly on my skin and spreads well. If you make your own skin care products this is a lovely product to use to do so.

Would not buy again
The media could not be loaded. Horrible. The butter smells like sour milk. It has a grainy, sticky texture that doesn't absorb at all, but stays on the skin like a layer of glue. Have ordered from naissance before and this is the first time it has been so bad tho, with both orders. Please check the quality of your products. Other order was hemp oil, and the bottle wasn't full.

Soft, and even softer after whipping!
I would really recommend this brand of shea moisture, softer than another one I purchased months earlier. What I would really recommend is whipping it. If you have any concerns about the smell or how stiff it is - whip it! I regret not doing it sooner. There are lots of youtube videos and its easy to do. After whipping it, its really spreadable and smell is covered by the essential oils you add. Downside is im going through it much quicker, but my winter dry skin has improved loads since ive been applying 3/4 times a day. Whichever brand you end up buying, just make sure you whip it - you wont regret it

Excellent quality
Before selecting this particular unrefined shea butter, I did look over other customer's reviews. Although I was initially concerned with one reviewer's worrying claim that their particular batch was rancid, I'd never previously had problems with the quality of this company's products, and happily discovered that I was right to choose them again. The shea butter arrived very fresh, clean, and has (like Naissance's Cocoa Butter) proved of very high quality, an ideal ingredient in my experiments. For those who are a bit undecided after reading reviews that comment on the 'earthy' fragrance typical of shea butter, I should like to mention that I too was a bit put off at first. But not to worry, it is very slight fragrance and seems (to me anyway) to be more nutty than earthy. Certainly there is nothing unpleasant about it. When putting it to use, I thought the product might prove a bit too solid. However, it melts slightly when you rub it with your fingertips and is readily absorbed into the skin. So I imagine it will be great for those with dry skin conditions. When I find it is time to purchase more shea butter, I will look no further than Naissance
