Better'n good...it's SuperHood !!
I bought one of these in January 2015. It has had a lot of use. My wife pinched it recently, for gardening in a north-east wind. We have both found it excellent, so I bought two more this week. Here are some updates which you might find helpful: the new ones are a more generous fit - in my opinion perfect for a 60cm (23.5 inches) headband size. The neck is longer, with plenty of depth to act as a scarf. The face-piece comes well up over mouth and nose, and below the eyes; or can be tucked down below the chin. The right-hand toggle adjusts the face snug, the left-hand toggle adjusts the forehead snug. I really think the design has been very well thought out. And here's something which you probably hadn't considered: there will many like me who have suffered from shingles around the head, who continue to suffer from post-herpetic neuralgia.I can't wear any sort of hat with even the slightest grip round the temple and brow. But this MaxWarmth job I can wear; it's delightfully comfortable; a great relief to be able to keep warm and cosy and free from nerve pains. If this strikes a chord with anyone out there - go for it !

A good defence against the winter
I bought this just before the cold snap and it protects my sinuses nicely from the cold air on early morning starts. I like the versatility of having an adjustable mid-section so I can tighten it over my nose or show my entire face. As a postman, this is useful since customer's don't like opening the door to a masked intruder! A couple of points of criticism, though: when the toggles are tightened, the toggle and string press against the cheek just below the eye which can be uncomfortable. Also, tightening the unit raises the front, exposing the neck, so can I suggest to the folks at Pureur that they produce a version with a tapering neck at the front. Also, there is a slight 'chemical' smell from the fabric when wearing the balaclava new so I suggest washing it before use. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this... Overall, though, it is a good product and very snug when plowing one's way through freezing sleet and icy wind.

Perfect!!
I haven’t had a chance to use this yet but when it arrived I was so happy as it is exactly what I was after!I’m working a ski season this year so was looking for something thats going to keep me warm. After reading all the reviews I went for this one rather than a cheaper one I’d found. It’s so comfortable and feels really nice and snug (not tight, just comfy). The bit at the front to make it full face or open is great too and easy to use.I really can’t find fault in it at the moment.Something to bear in mind for anyone who is skiing or snowboarding- consider if wearing this will fit under your helmet. Mine is only just ok, you might need to get a bigger helmet to wear this.

Ok for 2 out of 3 users....alas not big enough for me
It's a good product with one major criticism the Unisex description and one size fit. I should have read description more carefully listed in script as women's item and no mention of actual size so needless to say I would only recommend for a small medium build adult/headIt's far too tight and uncomfortable for large build adult head. The narrative needs updating as 2 out of 3 will be delighted me obe of the 1 out of 3 found it so uncomfortable (tight) had to remove it after 30 minutes. ...sorry.

Survived the arctic circle.
Brilliant. Just back from Swedish Lapland, and wore this constantly - snow-mobiling, husky-riding and a night in an ice room! Felt really cosy the whole time, and being able to adjust with toggles meant it was flexible for being in and out of extreme temperatures. It also fitted under helmets, hoods etc. Will no doubt be a regular wardrobe essential when temperatures drop in the UK. So glad I paid a little extra to buy this version, as a lot of the cheaper ones on Amazon looked poor in comparison, whereas I was a style queen in this.

Good product
This is a very good product. I work in a freezer at -25 degrees, this is very warm and does what it states. My only issue is that after an hour in the freezer the dampness goes through to the inside so I still have to wear a hat and neck warmer to keep dry. I did suggest to the company that maybe they could add an inner lining to stop the dampness coming through so quickly.

Very disappointing
I am not sure whether I have a peculiarly shaped head or whether the shape of this balaclava is odd. I suspect the latter. The hood only covers the back half of my head and the face protector does not pull up high enough to cover anything more than my bottom lip.I bought this for a winter trip to Finland and actually decided it wasn't worth taking.

Excellent item albeit a very snug fit
I'm really pleased with this, nearly took a star off as it's a very snug fit (more on this later) but decided against it due to everything else being spot on. The material is of a very good quality, it is shaped nicely and feels extremely warm. I like that the side toggles each do a separate job; the left tightens the hood whilst the right tightens the panel covering the nose/cheeks; excellent idea which saves faffing about trying to align both sides as is usually the case. I no longer have to carry around both a hat and scarf and even as a simple neck warmer, it sits very neatly around the collar of my smart work coat. I'd most definitely order again. Back to the fit (this is not a criticism, Stuart!) but simply a fact that the sizing is very small. I am a 5'2 female with a slim build and both the neck area and hood are a pretty close fit, any tighter and I would have had to return it. It's the width of the neck area and hood that is the niggle, another 1'/1½ inches would make all the difference. I can understand why so many people found it too small.
