Simple and elegant power electronics circuits
Hart's book manages to give succint and highly useful analysis of power electronics circuits. I use this as a companion to my power electronics course in my EE undergrad. transistors and diodes are treated as ideal for analysis which helps to keep the focus on the overall circuit operation. Still, this does not mean that the derivations and explanations are dumbed down. The book requires a decent grasp of the fundamentals and there is a lot of implied prerequisite knowledge. One should at least have experience in AC circuits, Signals and Systems, Differential Equations, and understand Semiconductors at a decent level.Another plus of the book is that it is smaller than most textbooks in physical size, making it light and portable. The pages also feel and smell very good, and feel strong.Overall this textbook has strongly enriched my knowledge in Power Electronics, but should be read after having a solid foundation in order to appreciate the explanations and math.

I find that this textbook is as easy to understand as any I've read and does not ...
I'm quite opinionated when it comes to the quality of writing, especially with engineering textbooks, which I have to read for my major. Most engineering textbooks are poorly written, focusing on getting correct scientific language expressed rather than making the text comprehendable. I find that this textbook is as easy to understand as any I've read and does not lose anything for expressing its content scientifically. It is not as comprehensive in content as other texts, but is definitely recommended for students needing only the basics of Power Electronics.

Great book for independent study
This book is GREAT if you are looking to study power electronics in detail.Things I like:1) This book, unlike many others, presents its material in a clear, concise manner; the PSPICE examples alone allow the student to play around with concepts at their own pace.2) The author does a fantastic job of anticipating readers' questions regarding the behavior of circuit components in a particular system, and addresses them quickly and clearly.3) The author thoroughly explains principles and uses mathematics to support the explanations. This enables the reader to develop a more intuitive understanding of the material.4) Rather than simply throw theoretical questions at the reader's face, the author uses the examples and chapter review questions to help the reader develop critical-thinking skills required for engineering. There are two reasons why I knocked-off a star from a full rating:1) There a few mistakes in the examples, but you can easily spot them if you pay attention, especially since the book has nice list of reference equations on the inside cover.2) The simulation examples are done with PSPICE. As someone who has taken a class on PSpice and (tried) to use it for circuit analysis, I am surprised that such a hideous and non-functional software is used. I would personally recommend using LTspice, which actually works and will help the student answer the chapter problems.All-in-all, this is one of the finest books I've ever read for electrical engineering. In some ways, it surpasses even my introductory circuit theory textbook. If I had a hat, I would tip it to the author for this great achievement.

This book is a great first book on power electronics
This book is a great first book on power electronics. I used it as a PE study guide and it was a huge help. The author gets to the point without bogging down in details.

AMAZON SUCKS
Spent quite a chunk of change for an unexpected trashy book that was not taken care of, has tabs on it, and a massive amazon rental sticker on the front. And the fact that Amazon declines to post a legitimate complaint about the product from a crappy “4.7stars” supplier is why you can’t trust the internet.A bad review is just a legitimate as a good one and declining to post because of whatever Orwellian rules you created in this monopoly looks bad and I hope you go out of business. Truly.
