Chimney Smoke Pellets - harmless to moles!!
We love all wildlife and were enchanted to discover a mole had clearly moved in. However, he was a champion tunneller amongst moles and he undermined a huge area of lawn - so much so that as we walked along, our feet started to fall through, resulting in twisted ankles. He was leaving 3 and sometimes 4 molehills every night - and we decided he needed to be urged to move on. (There is a huge field behind our garden..plenty of scope for his tunnelling tendancies). Killing or injuring Moley was out of the question, and after some research I decided to try a harmless Smoke Pellet. Stuck one down each of 4 freshly-made mounds and lit them, sealing the tops of all the other mounds. Quite stinky, as smoke goes, but a nice clean white smoke, lasted a good minute and hung around for a while later. I also breathed in some of the smoke and it did not kill me (had to check Moley would survive). The following day just one molehill had sprung up - a long distance from his old smoke-filled stamping ground. So I lit another pellet down this mound. Moley has not come back since.We also managed to test the chimney of a house we are doing up - the smoke pellet proved the chimney was blocked (which is now unblocked, of course..do not want to kill our tenants!) so I can honestly say this product is jolly useful and does what is says on the label.Produces a fair amount of smoke - but although, as I said earlier, it is a trifle smelly, it is clean white smoke which, as it filled the newly painted sitting room, did not damage at all. A little patience needed to light the tablet - it is not like a firework which catches immediately but it was no problem. All in all, quite enjoyable playing with these!

A LOCAL C/HEATING ENGINEER WANTED TO CHARGE US £ 75 SERVICING CHARGE FOR HALF AN HOURS WORK ( ONE BAXI V.P. GAS FIRE ) SINCE I RETIRED 15 YEARS AGO,I'VE ALWAYS BEEN PRESENT WHEN HE'S SERVICED THE FIRE AND FELT CONFIDENT TO CARRY OUT THE SERVICE, SINCE THE FIRE WAS BURNING WELL. I SUGGEST THAT YOU ACQUIRE A BARBECUE TYPE GAS LIGHTER IN ORDER TO LIGHT THE PELLETS MORE EASILY. THE SMOKE TEST PROVED THAT THE CHIMNEY WAS "DRAWING" WELL AND THAT THERE WERE NO OBSTRUCTIONS. ( THE GAS FIRE SHOULD BE LIT AND ALLOWED TO BURN FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES IN ORDER TO WARM THE CHIMNEY, GREATLY IMPROVING ITS ABILITY TO DRAW BEFORE COMMENCING THE SMOKE TEST.

You need to be careful when using as eack pelet provides a lot of smoke so you need to ensure you place it correctly.

These smoke pellets work fine.
This product does what it says. The pellets burn for about 20-30 sec producing a light smoke, though they burn faster in a slight breeze.

Bought these to test a wood burning stove flue, really good pellets and last as long as intended, very happy.
