This is a really well made feeding station for the money and the quality is good
We were keen to attract more varieties of birds into our garden and did a little research about feeding stations. We settled upon the Gardman feeding station due in part to the reviews. This is a really well made feeding station for the money and the quality is good. We purchased it a few years ago now and it is still in place and the birds flock to it.The pole is strong and has taken a battering in some storms, but it still stands straight. The water table works well, though don't put it too high because you can easily splash yourself when removing it. It will need regular washing due to bird droppings. The feeding table is sturdy and good for all kinds of treats. You can even put seed in there because the mesh is fine. The suet holder is good, though you will need to get the right size suet cakes. The seed feeders and peanut feeders are also great and last well - they are well constructed and easy to take apart and fill. The setup is simple and my children helped me with it; it was a nice family activity. I would be careful when placing the pole though. You need to sink it into the ground a fair way and if the ground is hard it will be nigh impossible. There is a spike in the bottom of the pole, but you will need to plan a little to drive it in far enough for it to stand up straight and withstand the wind and the attention of many birds. I think there is an optional base, but if the ground is okay, the pole works well.We have enjoyed many birds feasting at this table. Wagtails, robins and more exotic types including a pair of Jays. We have even had a woodpecker or two at times. One top tip: it is very wise to get the squirrel baffler! It works really well in conjunction with this feeding station and keeps it safe from the onslaught of squirrels.

Very satisfied
We already had an excellent two-arm Gardman feeder. It didn't hold enough varieties of food during the recent cold winter so we ordered a four-arm one through Amazon, as we trust them to choose good suppliers. The feeder arrived promptly and well-packaged from Longacre. Unfortunately the middle one of the three elements of the stand was partly bent out of shape and couldn't be connected. (Not Longacre's fault, as the feeder was inside a Gardman box and they couldn't have seen it before packing it.) I phoned Longacres. The call was answered promptly by a friendly, courteous and helpful person who immediately said that a replacement part would be sent to us. In fact they sent us replacements for all three parts of the stand. It took us a while to work out how to connect-up the feeder as the instructions are minimal and the diagram rather misleading. Then the bottom of the stand had to be hammered quite deep into the ground, (using a piece of wood to protect it). We are delighted with it though. It is well made, elegant in design and excellent value for money. It fits in well amongst our plants and attracts a host of small birds, and it is rock solid even in the strong winds we sometimes get here.

Tremendously enjoyable addition to our garden
I bought this feeding station about 6 weeks ago and, as I write this, I can look out the window and see 2 adult starlings, 3 juvenile starlings and 4 blue tits at the feeder. I really wish I'd bought this years ago - it has increased the bird traffic to our garden hugely! (Several videos of our visitors can be seen on YouTube under iamlucdigital slash videos ;) )The 'negatives' you may want to consider:1) I am only using the 4 hanging feeders. The water bowl (and its holder) was removed quickly, as it was being fouled no matter where I positioned it. (The birds happily use a 26cm ceramic plant pot saucer a foot above ground height.) I then removed the seed tray, as it was only encouraging the pigeons to park themselves there for an hour at a time, as well as giving a staging post for the squirrels to grab onto the feeders. (As it turns out, the squirrels didn't actually need that staging post, as you'll see if you take a look at my videos ;) ) I also found the decorative 'fat snax hanger' a nuisance to clean, so that's gone as well.2) If you intend to use this with the stand, you will need the "reduction kit" which needs to be ordered from the manufacturer via a phone number included with the station. Even if you're tall enough to reach the top without a step ladder, the pole will tilt if you use the full-size bottom pole supplied. As the reduction kit is very inexpensive (£4.50, I think), it would really make sense for Amazon to bundle it with the stand. Using the replacement pole (which is about 55cm shorter than the original one) I can easily remove the feeders to refill them (I'm 5'4").So far, the station has been sturdy enough to withstand squirrels (and, briefly, the neighbour's cat) hanging off of it. We've had breezy weather at times, but no violent storms, so I can't say how it will fare in those conditions. In terms of cleaning the base, boiling up a kettle of water to rinse most of the bird excrement off isn't sufficient, so I also give the base a scrub every couple of days using soapy water. But don't expect that a bit of elbow grease will return the base to pristine condition.ADDENDUM: During the severe winds of 10th January 2015, the feeder station blew over and was slightly damaged (dented peanut feeder, pole slightly bent at one of the joins). When I disassembled/reassembled it to tighten the various parts, the metal block that holds one of the wingnuts on the very top section sheared off. As it costs only £23 to buy another complete feeder station, I've decided to do that, but will not buy a third if it happens again. NOTE TO MANUFACTURER: This product would be improved by increasing the overlap of the tubes to 4-5 inches. The current 2 inches is not sufficient.
