Q: Can I use the planet waves 9V power adapter ?

absolutely not ! The fly 3 runs on 6volts /positive tip . When you buy the fly on amazon, the planet waves adaptor is suggested . My friend bought the fly to his son and pluged it on a 9 volts adapter...... he blew the amp . You may pay a little more but buy the right adapter, it works well and saves batteries

Q: Why is there what appears to be an Ethernet connector just above the power adapter plug?

Yes, for the extension cabinet, which expands this from 3w to 6w. The 3-pack is a good deal, because a) you get better volume but mainly because b) it includes the power supply, which means that c) the extension cabinet is virtually free.

Q: does it come with a cable

The package I received was the amp only. The instrument cable and power supply I had to purchase separately. My amp was in original packaging.

Q: are batteries included?

Ours came today (April 3) and did include batteries
