Moral Grandeur and Spiritual Audacity

I was hoping for more on social justice but there are some pearls of wisdom here.

I'm a Christian who greatly appreciates Heschel, and I've read several of his books. To fellow-Christians, I think you'll find yourself agreeing with 99% of what Heschel writes, and his spiritual insights are profound. I've found it helpful to read outside of my tradition, and I initially read Heschel to learn more about Judaism; I now read him to learn more about God.

A wonderful collection of Rabbi Heschel's writing covering many years of his life. I particularly enjoyed the essays on his evolving activism during the Vietnam War and the way in which it called him out of "the ivory tower". I go back and re-read essays in this book on a regular basis -- much as one would listen to favorite tracks on a music CD. His perspectives and extraordinary depth of spirit never grow old.

yet, I couldn't finished reading it because it never got to my home! - very disappointing

At this point in history, no one really "rates" or critiques Heschel. We all sit back and marvel over his lyrical prose, firm faith, and uncompromising devotion to Yahweh. A beautiful collection of his work!

Get ready for and in-depth study of the questions that perplex humanity written by a brilliant scholar.

Heschel was a Jewish Philosopher - which much of interest to say for the modern Christian. An excellent read.
