Worth watching, not awesome, leave your brain at the door
Well, this is a bit of a train wreck of a film. An enjoyable train wreck but a train wreck nonetheless.Excellent performance from Will Smith playing Deadshot pretty much perfectly - an excellent anti-hero. Everyone else? Not so much.Jared Leto's Joker was OK, I guess. Margot Robbie's Harley was underused and oversexualised. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje did a good job of characterisation with very limited screen time and loads of makeup...It got some of the comic book stuff right but a great deal wrong as well... ah well! It's entertaining, there's excellent use of music, and the body horror bits from the Incubus were gruesomely good as well. Worthy of a watch.

The hit squad
Okay, so this film does get a bit confused at times plot-wise. However I thought it was excellent. I like the idea of a bunch of “baddies” that are reluctantly doing good for a change. The standouts here are Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Will Smith as Deadshot. Its worth it for these two alone, especially Harley who steals the film and has the best lines. For a fun action film this ticks all the right boxes. It may not have the fan boy seal of approval... it’s not Marvel after all... but it’s not a film to miss. Hope they do a sequel.

Not as bad as the reviews make out, well worth a watch!
I was so looking forward to this movie, it starts off really well, the cast is superb, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie is superb as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto's new take on the Joker is frightening! The soundtrack is absolutely superb-one of the best parts of the movie. The film starts off well, showing the background of the main cast, Cara Delevingne plays her part(s) really well too. The film gets going really well, even into when the 'Suicide Squad's' first outing, with some great characters, which I think could have been given more exposure; namely Diablo. Really good character, which, (SPOILER ALERT) they kill off at the end! What were you guys thinking?! He would have been superb in any sequel. The script could have done with a re-write in some parts, especially the pointless 'bar scene' mid way through the rescue the squad were sent on. The 'bad guy drones' are pretty lame, the CGI here isn't very good at all. Think they should have thought this one through. Anyway, please don't let me put you off from watching it, it is an enjoyable, no brains required, watch whilst eating popcorn movie...although I do like to have a hot dog, M&M's and a large fizzy drink too when my wife isn't around! ;-)

Better Extended Version
This Extended Cut is better than the hacked to bits Theatrical cut I saw in the cinema, but it's still a bit of a mess. Not enough time has been allocated any of these character to make them likable, or particularly interesting. Only Margot Robbie and Will Smith actually leave an impression, and Jared Leto is ridiculously over the top as The Joker. But it's all messy. We needed a couple of films to introduce these characters first, but Warner Bros have no clue how to run a franchise extended universe. This cut is watchable, but that's all. Lot's of extras on the Bluray, but not a word about why it doesn't work.

It's Okay
Suicide Squad is an alright movie. Nothing particularly special about it, nothing too terrible either. It fails on the promise of the original trailer and marketing, because although its advertised as being about villains, these villains really aren't all that villainous and are generally presented as the "good guys".Jared Leto's version of the Joker is mostly underwhelming, but that's likely because he gets about ten minutes of actual screen time, not giving the audience enough time to really make their mind up on his performance. The action scenes are mostly fighting against faceless CGI villains and similar generic superhero movie enemies. What prevents Suicide Squad from being a complete flop is that the characters, especially this version of Harley Quinn and Deadshot are entertaining and occassionally funny and are generally the most memorable part of this film.I would reccomend it if you want a film that doesn't require much concentration and has occasional moments of fun, and a good soundtrack, but don't go into this expecting much more than that.

Extreme twist on Batman and Joker
A radical departure from the usual Superhero treatment, so much so it doesn't adopt a trademark logo in the title. So how is Gotham going to dig Joker out of his fortress district? It's a cross between every super hero and supervillain with a dash of 'Escape from New York' thrown in. Lots of new faces and characters: The villains are mostly trying to be good guys-and-girls and provide lots of opportunity for original dialogue.Rollicking pacing and excellent production values. It is carried off with skill and daring, and you do not get a feeling they missed any opportunities to entertain.RECOMMENDED

Flawed but fun
*Contains spoilers* I know a few people who hated this film and I agree that there are some problems with it. My main issue is that despite watching the extended edition (an extra eleven minutes) it still feels like a much longer film that's been heavily edited. Another issue is that the Joker is hardly in it which just feels odd given that he's such a big character. Also if you're looking for a Marvel style linking of each film into a broader narrative then you'll be sadly disappointed. This is very much a stand alone film and the plot itself is quite straightforward. However I did find lot to enjoy here. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is the nearest thing I've seen in film to a human cartoon. Will Smith whilst not convincing as a hired assassin, gives a very charismatic performance as Deadshot which carries the film through some of its talk-ier moments. I also liked Jai Courtney's sleazy Captain Boomerang. Furthermore the action sequences were all quite good. Overall, it's a good time and certainly a marked improvement over Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
