Not at all . You can keep them on at all times . You don't have to remove it .

Q: How easily is this installed and taken down? Can I keep it in the trunk and throw it on when I need it?

I've not put mine on yet, the directions say you can put the hard or soft top back on over the mesh and not take it off and on.

Q: Can you water proof it?

No. It is an open weave shade cloth.

Q: do you have anything close to 30-32x50-52?

Unfortunately, we do not have those sizes available.
