Amazing and wonderful!
I was pretty keen to get this book and just about ripped the delivery guy's arm off to get it quickly. And I wasn't disappointed when I did get a chance to sit down and see what I'd bought.It's inspirational and aspirational - I don't think I've been so excited about receiving a cookbook that's so far above my level since I bought "Heston Blumenthal at Home".Sure, I like cookbooks with ideas which are easily within my grasp. I have a couple of hundred of them. But I also like books which will challenge me and take my skills to a higher level.I agree with earlier reviewers comments. It's not for most novices . But no one ever said it would be. It's not easy to produce brilliance at that level. It seems clear enough that this book is for advanced or extremely dedicated home cooks. If you want to make an easy dessert in 20 minutes with only a handful of ingredients then don't buy this book. On second thoughts, you might like the book as the photography is excellent, as are the little stories accompanying the recipes. Buy it and drool over it, even if you never make any of the recipes.Some of the recipes could take days to make at home, given all their components. But they're all there in the book with simple enough instructions. You just need the passion and dedication to learn and to do them.I absolutely love this book and can't wait to get started.I could've written this review in one word: Wow!

Your childhood memories start here!
A beautiful, comprehensive and well-structured pastry book. Plenty of classics alongside less known delights - but taken to the next level. I highly recommend this book to anyone who just wants that little bit more from their sweet creations. For amateurs of French pastry techniques and recipes well explained in English, I also recommend 'Pâtisserie' by the same author - in my opinion, the only pastry book in English that matches the many reference books in French I own from similar calibre French pastry chefs (such as Christophe Michalak, Stéphane Glacier, Vincent Guerlais etc.). William Curley is undoubtedly up there with them, but has managed to retain and develop his own unique style.

Brilliant book with lot of delicious recipes.

Expect the most challenging techniques and above all fantastic results
Oh boy!!!!!!!! This book might have Hob Knobs in it and Curly Wirly in it but this book is NOT for the normal home cook. If you are a truly dedicated home cook and expect a recipe to have 8 recipes you have to make first before the main one and expect to make it 3 times to pefect it .And expect the most challenging techniques and above all fantastic results. THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.I cannot express how much I love this book, the only down side is that my copy is not signed.

Wonderful recipes, not for novices.
Gosh! Clearly written recipes for all sorts of things we remember fondly. I have no doubt that they work and the results absolutely wonderful. However, don't buy if you're not prepared to put the time and effort in. This isn't for beginners or those who haven't got a good bit of experience or knowledge under their belts. But if you're someone who enjoys cooking and is looking for a new challenge, I would say go for it!

Third book from William Curley and third masterpiece. Some of the recipes are quite complex to make but the results are well worth it.The recipes are both in metrics and cups.Some nice ideas and many step by step pictures of the various preparations

Beautiful
What a beautiful book. Far better than I expected. Looking forward to attempting to make some of the delightful recipes. Hopefully I'll do them justice. Well worth buying if only to look at the pictures!

Wonderful world of luxurious confections and pastries from innovative Scottish pastry chef
The latest edition of William Curley's Nostalgic Delights is an excellent cookbook for a aspiring pastry chef, kitchen professional or those foodies who are interested getting into making chocolate confections, pastries and few individual desserts. Most recipes are new, and other few you may find on 2 of his previous books like Couture Chocolate: A Masterclass in Chocolate and Patisserie with William and Suzue Curley. They are many British brand names candies that has been elevated to becoming luxury chocolates because he use high quality ingredients like chocolates, biscuits and such. I recommend this book highly. Although I made the Matcha and Yuzu teacakes and the blackberry teacakes - these are great confections. And family loved it. Even friends loved it too because it was amazing in textures, and flavors. Mind you... these are all natural meaning there are no preservatives or additives. That's William Curley's ethos or I should philosophy. His techniques are so flawless, and refined. The pictures are gorgeous, and the recipes are easy to understand for an expert foodie or chef. Aspiring pastry chefs can pickup his techniques too.I bought the Kindle version which supplied little pictures, but if you were to buy the paperback or hardback version they will contain a lot of detailed pictures.

Nostalgie kommt bei mir nicht zu kurz.
Es sind wirklich sehr schöne Rezepte mit nostalgischem Wert enthalten. Schöne Bilder und Ideen. Allerdings habe ich noch nichts ausprobiert, denn mir fehlt die Zeit. Den Aufwand scheue ich grundsätzlich nicht: Nichts ist schöner, als edle, super schmeckende Köstlichkeiten...
