Is this the right book for you?
Use Amazon's 'Search Inside' feature to check the content; quite a good selection of classic pop numbers, 80's pop and reggae here. Some other books in the Big Acoustic series repeat these numbers, but my view is that you can't please everybody; if you wanted exactly the content to suit you, you'd need to buy your music one-by-one, and that would cost a great deal more than these books. Then use the same 'Search Inside' feature to check out a music page; look - no score. Also, the suggested chords are very basic. For example, Paul Simon's "The Boxer" starts with an intricate bit of guitar picking over several bars; these bars are represented in the book by one basic, simple C chord. This could be good, or it could be bad, depending upon what you want to do.If you just want to sing and strum along to the radio, then the absence of the staves makes things clearer. If you want to do your own interpretation of a number, the bare bones information given here is also good. But if you don't know the number very well, or want to reproduce it note for note, then you need the score. Sorry folks, there isn't one. Some spelling errors are annoying, but I can live with that. My conclusion; good value for money, but you need to already know and have an ear for the piece you're trying to play.p.s. This may seem a nit-picking point but it may matter to you; because of the way the book is bound, you need a music stand to hold it open.

It's not big but it is clever
Firstly, I'm a complete beginner. I've owned a guitar for 3 weeks and only know 4 chords so far (and a few riffs). For me, this book goes to one side for a few months until I become a LOT more advanced (I had my 1st professional lesson last week and I'm apparently advanced for my experience) as a large amount of the songs in this book are 7, 8, 9, 10+ chords per song.I think there's just 3 or 4 songs that have only 4 chords. So the range of songs *is* without debate but as to if this book is suitable for beginners or not, that's more debatable. However, no one should expect to be able to play such great songs as those found in this book with only a cursory knowledge of the guitar but what should be expected is that:(1) A book with "Big" in the title would be reasonable in its size. It is not. It's probably A5 size. This makes it more difficult to "use" the book as you're playing.(2) Books like this would be much more user-friendly if they were ring-bound. As it is, I'm having to effectively break the spine of the book to get the pages to stay open on the relevant song.Saying all of that ^^^ I still recommend this book for the fact it shows all of the chords at the start of the songs, with the fingering positions and has enough variety in its content to keep the average music fan interested.

Singlehandedly responsible for my advancement
This series of books presents popular songs in lyric format with chord names inserted at the points where chord changes should happen.I currently own nine books from this series. The chords themselves are presented as shapes at the top of the first page of each song. Some of the shapes can be quite challenging to play and that is why these books are so good.As a beginner you can miss out the difficult chords or substitute them for simpler chords or more familar shapes. As you advance you'll find yourself adding the more challenging chords and trying new things. Because of this, these books will be with you for many years.I would recommend this series for players who already know at least the basic C, G, A, Am, E, Em, D, Dm chords and the 4 basic barre shapes.A single page of instruction shows relative tuning and how to read the chord diagrams. The books require that the player possesses a good degree of familiarity with the songs in order to be able to play them. Some songs you may be hearing for the first time and some songs appear in more than one book. The writing is fairly big and the page size is somewhere between A5 and A4.

Nice collection of song for Guitar Players
I was purchased this as a birthday present, along with a Capo (somewhat essential as many songs require one). This contains a variety of songs from the past 40 years or so.It contains words and music, so is designed for those of us who want a good strum and sing-song. It doesn't contain Tab or Musical Notation, so you will need to have heard the songs (Youtube springs to mind) in order to play them.I've been spending lots of time with my Guitar of late and really improving and it's been highly rewarding to pick a book like this up and find I can already play a good chunk of the songs. I got the "Gold edition" some time back. That was also excellent but , at the time, my lack of skill made it somewhat daunting as I was limited to a hanful of songs. It's certainly encouraging to keep revisting the book and seeing just how much you've improved.Overall an excellent book from an excellent series.

Good cross section, more newer than older.
A wide choice of songs that focused mainly on recent with a handful of classics.Lacks a melody line (staff) which is handy if you can't quite remember a song.Pages approx 10 x 6 inches (200 x 150 mm)I'd love to see a Spotify playlist for all the songs and for each song to include the name of the band as well as the composers. This is one of 3 books ideal for a campfire singalong or pub request gig.1. The little black songbook acoustic hit songs2. The big acoustic guitar chord songbook3. 101 acoustic hits for buskers

Lieder leider unbekannt
Das Buch enthält 80 Songs mit Texten und Gitarregriffen. Leider nicht enthalten sind Noten. Da ich die Lieder nicht kenne, ist da leider nichts zu machen. Für mich daher kaum brauchbar.
