Hi there can anyone tell me if this product will make the nitrate go higher

My natural Nitrate after a 50% water change is about 25mg/l - over the week using this it rises to about 90mg/l in a 120l tank which was at first a little startling. However, as long as the nitrate is not a result of ammonia/nitrite degadation I don't think it matters too much - fish and shrimp are all happy and even the Coryies are unexpectedly breeding in tank - overall easy to use but you do need to up the water change to 50% weekly.
