If you liked "The Shield" you'll love this!
This is my new favorite since the end of "The Shield". From the same people, it has a few of the same actors (Dutch and Lem make appearances) and the story lines are equally as good, with the same shocking "I can't belive that just happened!" and "How will they get out of this?!?!" endings. The characters are great, with old school Clay Morrow (Hellboy's Ron Perlman) as the President of an outlaw motorcycle gang, the Sons of Anarchy. His strong-willed wife Gemma is played excellently by Katy Sagal, and her son Jax (an unrecognizable Charlie Hunnam) is the good looking Vice President torn between his loyalty to his club and step-dad, and his apprehension for the way the club is doing business. Other characters are also brilliant. In the same way the Shield had the excellent psycho Shane, "Sons" has the brilliant but scary Tig, played by Kim Coates. I keep comparing this to the Shield, but it is similar in that it has the gripping but complicated storylines, but also a bit of humour. You'll find yourself rooting for the bad guys who are really the good guys. (The 19'ers even appear). This is just great quality drama which we've been waiting for.

Excellent anti-hero TV series
This biker series is now on number 5 so this review of number 1 is a bit late but anyway here goes. Being a keen motorcyclist myself (I hate the term "biker") I watched this series from the start. It is about a gang of outlaw bikers who run a protection racket, as well as other money-making schemes such as porn and gun-running in the town of Charming. It does seem strange that we the viewers are meant to cheer on these criminals who sponge off of law-abiding citizens and who murder anyone who gets in their way - anti-heroes indeed. The writing is first class and the characters are all well defined. There are multiple plot-lines and sub-plots flowing along so close attention is needed to follow it all. The acting is superb by all concerned and this series is a credit to all.

Addicting Series!
This show isn't on TV in Canada but I heard about it through a motorcycle forum and then noticed our video store had it. I found myself saying during the first 3 episodes, "why are you watching this trailer trash?" (I didn't need more shows to be addicted to), but being a rider myself and interested in the life of MCs, I gave it the first disc. Well I am now hooked. This is one amazing series with well know actors, great acting, and lots of action. I suppose one of the reasons I love this show is that I feel like a voyeur looking into the life of an MC. It has a way of making you feel like you are one of the family looking in. I can see the attraction to joining an MC as the show does a fine job of portraying the sense of belonging and family that so many long for. On the other hand, some of the things this family does is hard to watch - it still is a criminal gang that engages in gun running, murders, torture, and the porn industry (thankfully tho that is short lived). This is a gritty show like The Shield was. If you liked The Shield, you'll love SOA.I just finished re-watching Season 1 which made more sense to me this time - all the relationships, business deals, and gang rivalries. The DVD set is worth getting for the Special Features - the bikes, the ink, the set, etc. This is a unique show that will be a classic!
