Works well
It fits perectly and does it's the job, plus it's beefy and well made. The price makes it a winner.

Great tool but didn't need it
This tool worked well on my 2000 gti. I had to pull off a lot of stuff around the timing belt tensioner pulley in order to use the tool including the motor mount. If you need to adjust your timing pulley you are better off using a pick. Unless you decide to change the belt, tensioner, or other stuff in that area, this tool makes tensioning quick and easy.

This tool made a pain in the backside job much easier. Worked perfectly on my 2000 vw beetle 2.0l.Worth every penny even though I will probably only use it once.

Great product. Tongs are durable and tensioned my tensioner perfectly. Great to use if your alan-key hole on your tensioner is stripped. Used on my 2006 Jetta TDI (BRM).

Does the job for which it is intended.
Nothing to dislike, it is the right tool for the job. Others feel there might not be enough room to manipulate the tool.

Had to make it fit.
This is actually the second tensioner wrench I have bought. The pegs on the first one (I don't recall the brand) were too big to fit in the pulley slots. I had to grind them down to size. The Schley, was bought in anticipation of changing out the tensioner pulley. I was thinking maybe the previous tensioner didn't have standard size holes. So, New tensioner, (Gates), New wrench,(Schley), I still had to grind down the diameter of the pegs, as they wouldn't fit in the pulley holes. So, I did make it work, but I don't know what's up with the size difference, with the tool and the pulley.

Must have tool for older water cooled VW's.
Decent must have tool for older VW owners 98 and under that use manual timing belt tensioner. The two prongs that go into the tensioner itself are not that strong so you have to be kind of careful with the tool.
