Hylite 1.5m Eco Heater with built in thermostat (190W)

a reliable product - we use on a low setting to prevent frost in our shed/workshop. We just set the thermostat and leave it on all day. I monitor our household electricty use with an energy monitor and I estimate it to cost about 20-30p per day on the coldest winter days, you do notice the change in temp going into the shed on these days but it does take a while for the heat to build back up again if the door is opened for too long. We have it secured to the floor under a workbench (out of harms way), It is perhaps not the best position for it. Ideally I would move it out to the middle of the floor when the shed is not in use but the workspace is quite cluttered and I am quite clumsy so I would be afraid of damaging it. So far we have had no problems with frost inside the shed. It is silent and very slim so easy to tuck away somewhere discrete, If you are using it in a prominent palce and especially if there are children about then there is a steel mesh guaurd you can get to prevent burnt fingers.

I purchased two of these heaters to provide a low energy, economical and convenient way to keep my conservatory frost free over the winter months. I have only had them for a short time and have placed them on the floor near the windows. Although the big test will be how they perform over the winter months, I am already aware of the difference these heaters are making. I have them switched on low at present, as the temperatures haven't yet reached freezing, but I've noticed a lack of condensation on the windows and tiled floor. The built in thermostat is very useful. So far I am very impressed with these heaters.

Pleased with this. Only annoyance is that the plug is prone to coming out of the socket and the little plastic stands (which you need to screw together to fix around the tube) are loose on the tube, so need care in placing on the ground that it sits upright on the ground.

This heater is discreet, silent and easy enough to fit; it's also quite useful as a way of slightly raising background temperature. We've installed ours in a sunroom with dwarf walls and two large areas of glass which tend to cascade cold air onto anyone sitting underneath. I was hoping the Hylite would provide a rising screen of warm air to reduce this downflow. In the event, it's not powerful enough to have that effect, so I've also installed a Glen skirting heater on an opposing wall, which does curb the cold air to a reasonable extent. The Hylite is still worth having, though, for its gentle background impact.

So this heater and guard are slim and clean lined design are very easy to mount on a wall. Getting the thermostats to where you want it is child's play and the heater then does seem to work well delivering trickle heat. I am using it to stop the temperature in my workshop fall below 6°C to avoid damage to paints and various wood finishing solutions. All I need to do to work in my workshop is to give it a blast with my halogen heater since starting from 6-10°C is much less of a challenge than heating up from ambient.

Works really well and Does the job I wanted it for but do really need the covers for it. As it gets really hot and could burn children or animals if layed next to it or it could start a fire if something got mistakenly dropped or put on it .. The delivery was extremely fast many thanks .

The heater does heat itself, but that's about all. It does not warm the room. I tried this in a small green house when fall started, the temperature was around 15c. It did not raise the temperature. Returned and would not recommend it.

I was not sure whether to get this heater or one smaller, but glad I chose the larger version. I am heating a summerhouse around 4m x4m. This 1.5m heater has kept the inside from getting freezing even with the snow on the ground. It couldn’t be used for the only heater (I have another for that) but to keep the ambient temperature such that cushions and furniture are not exposed to extremes at a low cost, this is perfect.
