The Handbook of Scholarly Writing and Publishing 1st Edition

I am amazed at the organization, clear instruction, and accuracy of the content in this book and recommend it for everyone getting started in writing and publishing, up-through-to experts who may need a more contemporary refresher. The affordability of the book is a real plus, as well.

Very helpful. I had this as a required book for my dissertation class and it was quite valuable in helping me format my paper. More improtantly, it has tips and information to help you prepare papers for publication in scholarly journals...which as part of my regular job has been valuable..

The narrative style of the chapters, with each being about a different aspect of scholarly writing, was really nice. It's an especially nice break from the really heavy reading I have to do for many classes.

Simple and clear explanation. Easy reading. Very useful novice like me.

I highly suggest this book to any graduate student or new scholar seeking help in the process of starting, finishing, or improving a manuscript of any kind. The book offers detailed suggestions and guides for a number of publication types (i.e. book review, conceptual paper, research from the dissertation, etc.) and writing up different research methods (qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods, etc.). The book is especially helpful for those in fields related to education, adult education, or human resource development, though the title might suggest to some that it is intended to be helpful regardless of discipline. I hope to see a future edition of the book expanded to include scholars and contributions from other fields, but overall, this book is a good start to an important conversation: improving writing among scholars and students, and alleviating some of the stress and mystery that surround the process.

I purchased this book for a graduate course. I didn't enjoy the course, but I loved this book and the pointers it has to being a more efficient writer.
