Steiff My First Steiff (Beige, 24cm)

I first bought one of these for my son when he was born in 2008 and he loves it, its the only teddy he'll still have in his room. So when my nephew was born last year I was delighted to get this again and I hope he treasures him too - still the perfect size and beautifully soft. Machine washable and durable its the ideal teddy for a baby. However - please remember not to leave toys in your babys cot whilst they are sleeping.

It has to be said that this bear is perfect for a young baby who still wants a little teddy-bear. It is surprisingly small actually, it took me aback when I first saw it but there are only a couple of Steiff Bears that are suitable for a child under 36mths; the added factor is that it is entirely machine washable which is essential for a Baby's bear.In this case, it makes an ideal first bear for a tiny baby. It is incredibly soft, a lovely colour & looks like a Teddy Bear should look. I was disappointed at first but then common sense took over & I realised how perfect it is for a baby's first Teddy Bear instead of one of those giant ones that are of absolutely no use at all!!It really is quite beautiful & the stitching on the foot is an added bonus.

Edit: I have since purchased another two for some new additions, luckily a girl and a boy as had to get different colours to the others. First teddy is still much loved and has had to undergo minor surgery by Nana. ***** Ideal first teddy for baby, just the right size to become a favourite teddy. Wasn't too sure when first purchased but as my first granddaughter has grown Ted is her tiredness buddy. Fur has not remained fluffy because of washing but that's just a sign of much love. Have just made a second purchase for second granddaughter. Disappointed in the lack of different proper bear colours though, I wouldn't have chosen such a light colour but needed a different colour to first and not a fan of gender specific colours. Would highly recommend though.

It is very well made and looks high quality - a teddy that will last into adulthood. That's what we wanted as all our other grandchildren still have the birth gifts (not steiff teddies). However - our grand daughter appears unimpressed as she prefers a soft toy elephant that someone else bought.

It's ok. I already had a 'My First Steiff' bear given to my 1 year old and she loves it so much, I though I better have a reserve ready just in case!Having compared it to the original, this one's nose was squint, one eye & the mouth wasn't well defined. It's soft and seems otherwise well stitched. Thankfully my one-year old hasn't been able to tell the difference yet.As has been said, it comes in a bag, which was ok for us, as it won't be used as a gift or kept as a collectors item.If we hadn't got this as a direct replacement for a bear she already had, we wouldn't have bought it. It's ok and soft, but I'm sure there's lots of bears you could get like that, that don't cost £26.

Gift for a six month old

Rather disappointed the bear arrived in a plastic bag. This is supposed to be a Steiff first bear and one would prefer it was at least in a wrapped state and not in a plastic bag. The ear tag does not seem authentic to me either.
