BBQ Gaskets are essential to keep smoke and heat locked in during slow cooking, they create a better seal between the lid and main kettle. This modification is particularly useful in colder places like here in the UK, where we are often battling to keep the heat in and get the most out of our coals, as windy or cold conditions demand much more from the fuel source. You can see on the picture this will seal several Weber Smokey Mountains (our gasket is black, white is used for that illustration) You can also seal the Oklahoma Joe's, between the fire box, the cooking chamber lid, firebox lid and chimney. I did find that it wasn't a good idea applying gasket to the top section of the Oklahoma Joe lids closest to the hinges, this created a clearance issue, but the remaining sides are fine, doing this will give you a great seal with minimum leaks. Another observation when sealing an offset, was I pulled the gasket quite tight as I pushed it on, this made it slightly thinner which sorted any further clearance issues down the sides and bottoms of the door. This is a 15ft roll! Original Nomex gaskets from the USA, beware of imitations

Does the job but doesn't last too long.
Went on well and does the job but it's quickly peeling away after just a few uses.

Used on a Weber Smokey Mountain
Used this to seal the side door on a 57cm (22.5”) Weber Smokey Mountain. It went on extremely easily and being black, looks great. I had enough to also do the top of the smoker. What’s left will happily do the base, though it isn’t necessary. Will use it on a 57cm Kettle BBQ I’ve got.However. £25!!!! Seems to be the going rate but still.Edit: dropped from 4 stars to 2. After little more than 6 months, it’s disintegrated in certain areas. Used the WSM last week and it leaked more smoke than if I hadn’t bothered in the first place. At the price I paid, there’s no way I’m replacing like for like. Absolute rip-off!!!

bought for a Weber Smokey Mountain, it sticks well but not so sure it is needed for a WSM, makes little difference to the cook.

I was expecting a high standard of performance - disappointed! N
I'm not impressed with this product. I de-greased then cleaned the surfaces with alcohol and applied the seal as per the instructions, but parts of the seal have transferred to the adjacent surface following the first cook (the seal was applied 4 days prior to the first cook with the lid fastened shut, as advised)... Considering the price of this product, I was expecting a high standard of performance - disappointed!N.B. The first cook was a pork shoulder cooked over eight hours at 250F/120C...

Great upgrade for a smoker
Brilliant stuff - sorted out a leaky Weber Smokey Mountain so i get much more reliable cook times and reduced fuel use, just be sure to clean the smoker surface before applying it.
