G16 Skin Repair, Very Dry Skin & Ichthyosis Treatment Cream & Lotion

Update: it’s working! Scales are disappearing fast ..and I really quite like the slightly pins and needles feeling I get when it goes on my rubbed down skin. (If anyone has ever used Betnovate on a scalp issue, the pain is minimal compared to that but gives you the same feeling that it’s doing it’s job.I’ve received this today, and totally ready to give it a go after 50+ years of ichthyosis. It smells wonderful, will go a long way too as isn’t thick, yet very moisturising. I have everything crossed for shedding the grey scales..I’ll be back! To tell all in a few weeks. I was very skeptical about this lotion, having had icthyosis for my whole life, but I've tried so many lotions that I thought I may as well try one more without getting my hopes up. Because it is so expensive for a 200ml bottle, I thought I'd test it on my right shin and my back initially so it could stretch to the whole 28 days. However I was surprised by how well it rubs in. It's quite thin lotion so a little goes quite a long way and two pumpfuls does my leg. After a week of using it, I noticed all the skin on my back starting to peel off in chunks. Anyone with icthyosis knows it normally comes off in annoying little flakes that get everywhere. Within 2 weeks, the patch on my back that I'd used it on looked and felt like healthy pink skin rather than the grey flaky skin I'd always had. It feels softer and less dry, although it's still a little bumpy and not smooth like a normal person's skin is. But for me, it's as good as I could have hoped for. I've not seen as good a result on my leg yet but now I am seeing an effect, I am going to buy two more bottles and just do my whole body once a day. A word of warning, after a bath where you've scrubbed your skin, it can be quite stingy to put the lotion on. I felt like I'd rolled in nettles the first time. So now I wait about an hour after a bath before applying it. Also, wash your hands after putting it on. I accidentally left a little between my fingers where the icthyosis is very minor, and all the skin peeled off. Very raw and sore. But overall I would really recommend it. You can see in the image where I put the lotion vs where I didn't. This was about a week in. I didn't believe it could work but I'm happy to be wrong!

Too expensive the only difference between similar products is the 10x price

Like other commenters here, I have suffered from ichthyosis all my life and had accepted that there was nothing to be done but use greasy creams to flatten the scales and make my skin more comfortable. The blurb on SR Lotion describes it as "life changing" and while I had accepted my condition and never let it get in the way of my life anyway, I can say that SR Lotion has indeed improved all the aspects of my life that *were* affected by my dry skin.To get good results, you should follow the instructions as provided. I started with the G15 formulation so my experience is based on that; they're now on G16 which claims to work faster in the initial stages and which I am now using to maintain the condition. As a test, I applied the lotion twice a day to my arms for a month and then treated my whole body once I'd seen the effects. The first thing I noticed was that the lotion isn't greasy like other creams I've used and is absorbed rapidly; I can apply it in the morning and put my clothes on straight away.Ichthyosis causes the dead skin on the surface to stick around longer than normal, whence the "scales", and the first effect of SR Lotion is to make these peel off, so you can expect your skin to be flakier than usual for a couple of weeks. However, I found that this varied depending on how scaly the area was to begin with; my arms didn't peel at all and went straight to "normal" after about a week, my legs and torso, which had the distinctive scales, got very flaky and it took 2-3 weeks for the flakes to clear. Once the flakes are gone and the skin looks normal, you can reduce the application to once a day. In fact, it might only be necessary to "top up" the treatment less frequently than that - I stopped the treatment on my legs as a test, and it took a few days for the scales to form again.Something that is worth noting is that, as indicated in their documentation, SR Lotion has no effect at all on eczema. I have a small patch on my hand and it is as dry and flaky as always. So if you're in doubt, it might be worth consulting a doctor or researching online to make sure you have one of the conditions SR Lotion is suitable for. But the best thing is to try it anyway. After a lifetime with ichthyosis, I am amazed to have soft flake-free skin with that soft shine I used to admire on other people's skin!Finally, I'd also like to say that SR's staff are excellent. My order got lost in the post and after a conversation with them via Amazon in which they were responsive and helpful, they resent a bottle that was on my desk the next day. So I am not only very satisfied with the product but also with the service the seller provides.

Customer service from the store was efficient, however, the product which works as a very good emollient, didn't yield any results like promised. Tried three times. It may work for some and not for others but I am now questioning many of the reviews, which are claiming G16 is some miracle cream for skin conditions, many of which have no known treatment or cure. Would not recommend.
