Q: Any issues with wiring this to a relay powered by an external electrical outlet on my front porch, and then using as a doorbell?

Correct answer but it won't be a short answer.Wired to a residence is legally permissable within the guidelines of the NEC (National Electric Code. As a Homeowner, You can work on Your own residence. #1- All external electrical must be operated through a GFCI receptacle. Most homes after 1977 are usually equipped with outdoor GFCI receptacles. If not tackle that first. #2- aquire and install a transformer that will transform the 120vac house voltage to the banshee voltage, confirm what that is. Probably 6 or 12vdc. That's DC Direct Current. Utilize bell wire to go from the transformer output through the door bell to the Banshee. Please note that doorbells are momentary contact in that the Banshee will only receive power while the doorbell is depressed. Time duration relays are available so you could have the power to the Banshee last for say 5 sec. 10seconds etc. after the doorbell is momentarily depressed and then automatically reset. Again, confirm the voltage requirements for the banshee before you purchase a transformer. Also, technically; all wiring including low voltage should be within a NEC approved raceway available thru Amazon.When in doubt about code, safety with electrical or correct installation. It fits where you make it fit. I put it exactly where the factory horn was.

Yes, The Shockwave Banshee is weather AND water resistant. The internal boards are "potted" in silicone at the time of manufacturing.

Q: I see the pcb is exposed to the elements in the pictures. is this unit weather proof?

Sort of... Careful placement can help, and there is an included rubber sticky pad to cover up the wiring connections when installation is finalized. I hid mine under a side cover (Triumph Rocket III) so it doesn't really get any moisture. It's loud enough that placement like that doesn't really hurt the output. Easy install and a fantastic horn!
