I've done Amazon searches for the lead refills, but there aren't any results. How then do I refill the Zebra M-701 Mechanical Pencil?

Just .7mm lead. Take off the top metallic cap (slides off), pull out the tiny eraser (white, too small to uses consistently), and slide the lead in through the top like most other mechanical pencils. Replace the eraser, then the cap, and presto, a fully functional mechanical pencil again.Something like the "Pentel Super Hi-Polymer Lead Refill , 0.7 mm Medium, HB, 90 Pieces of Lead (C27BPHB3-K6)" <--(copy this into the search bar at the top of the amazon page) sold right here on Amazon.com should suffice. Also, I'm curious; you said you did "Amazon searches for the lead refills, but there aren't any results." and then asked "How then do I refill the Zebra M-701 Mechanical Pencil?". Does this mean you do not know how to replace the lead in the pencil, or that you could not find the "Zebra" branded lead for sale at Amazon.com? Amazon does not sell Zebra branded lead, but the Pentel lead I pointed you in the direction of should satisfy your lead needs for this pencil, or any other pencil that requires .7mm lead (most commonly available lead refil out on the market, typically, besides .5mm)

Can this be refilled with "Fisher Space Pen" Ink

Technically, no, but there is a way to modify the M-701 to become a 0.5 lead mech pencil.It's essentially taking the interior of a M-402 mech pencil (which houses 0.5mm lead) and swapping the interior with that of a M-701. (you can also swap the pocket clip from the m-402 to the m-701 as well as people prefer the one on the m-402.)Your end results will be a M-701 mechanical pencil with 0.5mm lead in a sleek body that has great balanced weight, as well as a M-402 with 0.7mm lead and can be used as a backup. The internals for both pencils are the same.

The length is that of an average pen. But it would not fit into our checkbook holder because it was so fat....

This is What I Call a Pen

I only bought the pen on a whim after reading about one in a fiction book and have been pleasantly surprised by it. A well made good looking very sturdy pen. It not too light or bulky, it just feels and looks right in all aspects. The knurled grip ensures a nice firm grip when writing and the ink flow from its 0.7mm nib is clean and smooth. No leakage or blobs of ink. Even though it is an import, the cost is much more reasonable than a few similar pens currently available in the UK. Time will tell how long it lasts before a refill is needed but right now the pen is a top buy

My new EDC pen

Good quality, well built pen. No issues with function so far, although the clicker is quite light, so is quite easy to knock down whilst in pocket. Knurled metal is nice and comfortable to grip

Good budget EDC pen

Good, solid, every day carry (EDC) pen. If you're looking for an alternative ink refill, the Schmidt Megaline 4889 fits without any modification. It's a Fisher Space Pen compatible refill so is pressurised too.
