Bit Complex to Learn, Fun Teamwork to Play
Every time I crack this game it takes me quite a while to remember how to play it. The manual is not super clear and there's a fair amount of fiddly rules as well as making the enemy deck.Once over that hurdle, though, it's a fun co-op game where each of four players has 2 turns at watch, and 6 nights of fighting over an 8 hour journey. The better you do at defending your camp, the fewer bad guys go on to join the boss fight at the end. Solid mechanics that reward mastery and each class feels quite different to play. Not great for casual or beginner board gamers, maybe too lightweight for hardcore players, but a good warm up game if you're doing something longer afterwards.

Original is better - this adds too much complexity.
I enjoyed the original, and had high expectations for this new standalone, but too much was too much for this version. What was enjoyable about the original was the simplicity. It was a simple, quick game and stayed within that frame. In this new standalone; every single monster has an ability of some sort. This slows the game down far to much. Especially when paired with the new hero abilities being far more niche in how they activate.I would not recommend this version over the original.I would only recommend this version if you wanted more heroes to play, but even then I find the original characters far more useful in more situations.4.5 stars for the original game though - get it.

Excellent Solo Game
Excellent solo game, with high replay value.I would suggest buying the original and Outriders expansion as well.
