Fonotek TURNTABLE MAT - 3mm Thick CORK Platter / Gimp Mat

Got a new record player and some of the records kept playing off key as if they were getting stuck on something. Realised were sticking to the lid of my record player. Ordered this in the hopes of having my records "sit" a bit higher so they wouldn't catch on the lid. This was the size of a record, but being cork I could easily use some scissors to take some of the edges off and make it a smaller circle that didn't catch on the lid. Now able to play my records with no issues after some DIY.

The quality of the product is really good but do some research before buying. I bought it to replace the felt mat of my Rega Planar 1 and it changed the sound completely. The thickness of the stock felt mat was was a lot different and you can't adjust the tone arm height on the Planar so sound changed and not in a good way. I would recommend finding something with the same thickness as what you have now or else find a record player which can be adjusted.

A bit tricky to cut to size - the rewards were instantly apparent once fitted - tighter bass and an overall more complete sound !

The items arrived before time and the difference over the felt mats is like night and day.i recently purchased an ATlp120usb,couldn't understand the fuss about removing pr-amp from this brilliant deck as it sounded knock out as is.I also own the 1240 model so am quite happy with both,so the first thing I did was replace the felt mat with this cork one,purchased two,one for my ATlp1240usb.unbeleavable sound improvement and at roughly half the price of the opposition,recommend you buy one now,remarkable value for money,am purchasing one more.

I’ve never suffered from vinyl static before but after lifting the record off the turntable, this mat lifted off with it. I literally had to peel the mat off the record. You could actually hear the electric crackle as I did.But what cheesed me off the most is the amount of cork dust left on the vinyl afterwards. It made my eyes water. My treasured Massive Attack album looked like a disc map of the Sahara.Now, I’m not sure if this mat caused the static, but it’s the first time I’ve tried a cork mat and it’s the first time I’ve suffered with vinyl static. So I’m blaming the mat........ but also myself. I mean, I DID just pay £10 for a bit of round cork with a hole in it. What did I expect?

Good quality turntable mat. However, I've only given it 3 stars as I had to cut it down in size to fit my Project Debut II turntable. Originally it overhung the platter by approx. 1.5cm which just looked ridiculous. Simply used previous felt mat as a template and cut down with sharp scissors. Apart from the size issue a very good mat which is substantially cheaper than the genuine Project item.

Purchased for a 1970s Pioneer PL115D turntable that my 12 year old grandson has just inherited.So good to see someone so young getting into LPs

Bought for my dad's modern record player that is in a case that catches on the record (massive design flaw that appears to be quite common from what I can gather). This mat was just the perfect depth to lift the record and prevent the issue.
