Great companion to 'Baked In One'
We purchased this cake tin as a companion to the 'Baked In One' recipe book by Eloise Head (Fitwaffle), which specifies a 20cm square by 5 cm deep tin. This tin fits the specification exactly and has been sturdy and easy to use for the many baked goods we have since made! It is still wearing well over a year later, with no scratching or damage. It comes in an attractive matte metallic finish and has separate base, which is useful when trying to remove bakes from the tin after cooking. However, this does also mean there is a hole in the bottom of this tin, so bakes with loose batters may seep through the bottom unless the tin is lined with baking parchment.

Strong and robust
It's a fantastic tin, especially for the price. At this range I've had too many tins which are about as strong as kitchen foil. This cake tin is solid and has already taken a beating from both my kids and I

Quality bakeware, though the loose base arrangement may be problematic for some mixtures
I really like Masterclass bakeware. I’ve got several. This is my most recent acquisition. It is made from thick steel so feels solid and heavy with no concerns about distortion with the heat of the oven – which I’ve had with cheaper tins. I was a bit surprised when I popped the base out, because, although the removeable base is square, the hole in the bottom of the tin is round and the square base just rests there. The base does not locate in the bottom, it just sits there. In some respects this is good because there are no rims or recesses to trap food, so it’s dead easy to clean, but at the same time it does explain why a few reviewers have had problems with thin batters leaking.I needed it for my rich fruit Christmas cake and had no problems with leakage. The mixture stayed exactly where I put it. Mind you, because this cake is in the oven for 3.5 hours I did line the tin with a few layers of greaseproof paper – though I didn’t seal the bottom with this. Despite the length of cooking nothing came to close to burning. The cake released easily.I’m quite happy with this, I think it outperforms cheaper bakeware and is worth the extra investment.

It is a cake tin
What can I say? It did it’s job well, the cake did not stick and it washed up easily afterwards. I shall use it again.
