Aktiv Organic Cacao powder is raw and thus a superb, healthy alternative for use at baking, making hot chocolate, desserts and smoothies. Cacao powder - some called it also cocoa - is containing over 300 active substances, including phenyl, ethylamine and serotonin. It is considered as one of the richest sources of antioxidants found in nature. Cacao beans are the raw base for chocolate manufacture. Originating from the tropical climates in South America, the Theobroma Cacao tree is sacred amongst the Mayans and Aztecs. On its own, the Cacao beans are a fine "superfood" as they foster a variety of antioxidants and other nutrients. Produced by organic growers in Peru, Cacao beans contain more antioxidants than red wine and 3 times more than green tea, Cacao beans embody a rich source of minerals. Harvested by hand as pods, the raw beans are selected for the finest quality and fermented to reduce their initial bitterness. After cleaning the dried beans in natural water, they are peeled and their core extracted to be broken into "nibs". These are ground into Cacao paste. The fat from the paste is extracted from the solid part and the residue dried and finely ground into Cacao powder. The production process preserves a significant proportion of the nutritional value of the beans without any additives. Aktiv Organic Raw Cacao Powder is not alkalized or Dutch processed. Not That Nice
It's the first raw cacao I've tried. I didn't like the flavour as it just wasn't anything other than a bit bitter with no other discernible notes. The smell was a bit nondescript too. A nice colour though.The only comparison I have is Green and Black's organic cocoa which isn't raw (and so probably less nutritious), but the G&B is very yummy.

Quality & flavourful
Good quality, full flavour, value for money, packed with health benefits! Can use in baking of course, but I also like to use it to make a hot chocolatey drink with a few drops of pure stevia & unsweetened almond milk. Satisfies my sweet tooth & gives my brain a boost without coffee jitters!

Makes really good hot chocolate
I love this stuff. If you combine it with frothed milk, caramel sauce and some cinamon, the resulting flavour is amazing. Plus the powder itself is good for you (the caramel sauce perhaps not 😊). Add coffee and it goes great in a mocha too. Decent sized bag, well packed, lasts a while.

Lovely texture
Arrived on time. I really like the taste of this cacao powder in my smoothies and I enjoy using it with Almond milk in a hot drink.
