It's opaque so no view of the actual light.

Yes ,not too bright but enough for my daughter at evening when she is in bed. Hope it was helpful

It came with batteries already and its the small watch batteries it takes. My kid has had loads of fun with it.

I don't see why not ....although some markers do have a smell to them and when the light is on it may give off an odour.
