KOHLER K-9110-VS Air Gap Body with Cover, One Size, Vibrant Stainless

I first bought from Amazon Marketplace but the air gap package sent did not include the metal cover. Someone purchased, removed the metal cover, and returned the plastic parts for credit. Shame on them and Amazon for reselling! Reordered at full price. Only purchased the Kohler air gap for the stainless steel cover that matches the Kohler faucet I just purchased. In reality brushed nickel looks like Kohler's stainless so my advice is to shop around. Nothing special about the plastic piece in this package.

I am writing this review because I had purchased a Delta Charmaine faucet from Home Depot. I was concerned about two things: Would the cover actually cover up the white part that you see on the bottom of the air gap AND, would this air gap match my faucet. The answer is YES to both of my questions. I have an older style (about 24 years old white tile inset type sink that can only be replaced by replacing the entire countertop - yes lucky me). So, I had to replace the faucet and was concerned that the stainless steel would look ok with my white tile/sink/white tile counter top AND match the actual color of the chrome faucet (which I highly recommend). My older style kitchen sink has three holes for the faucet (the Delta Charmaine comes with the cover) and the holes are a bit larger than the newer sinks. I was not sure if this air gap would fit. It does! Just line it up from the top, etc. and it does cover up the ugly white portion. This air gap is the only one I've found that actually covers up the white part. I highly recommend.

Other reviewers are correct about the cheap plastic feel of the air gap itself. Although it's generally not any worse than the standard Home Depot or Lowe's unit, what I didn't like about it was the included washer that is supposed to create the seal on the top of the sink; it's just terribly generic, to the point of not being functional(in my opinion). The washer is too thin and does not have enough "structural" integrity to handle any amount of pressure, even from a flimsy plastic air gap. I actually used another air gap and washer(Home Depot bought) and placed the matte black cap over the top. I bought it for the top so that it would match my faucet, which is partially matte black. While the faucet is Delta and this product is Kohler, the black finish is identical. I rated it 4 stars since I really only needed the top, but the rating could easily have been lower. If a company would make a well designed, rigid air gap I would buy and install it(even if it's good quality plastic). But these don't seem to be available any longer. Since I bought it for the cap, I should note: the cap has a pretty nice finish on the outside; the cap also covers the entire unit at the top of the sink and has a much nicer look than the typical plastic cap. Interestingly, I had to work a bit to get the cap to fit completely over the whole unit, as the better washer made the unit sit just a bit higher. But it did come out looking pretty nice. I would recommend it if you're only going to use the cap, but plan on buying a different, better quality air gap. This really is another example of manufacturers making products that are just barely passable.

Install took a few minutes to get the depth right but wasn’t bad. My only complaint would be a mismatch between this item’s output and the inlet on the garbage disposal, but that is as much an issue with the garbage disposal and was easily overcome with a hose clamp.

Disposal installer was wrestling with stiff drain hose. Manhandled air gap unit and now threads are stripped. Won't tighten adequately. Would not have happened with metal threads.

I got the Kohler version after getting a Home Depot product that claimed "brushed nickel finish", but was in fact grey plastic with a bit of glitter... The Kohler version is real steel with a a real brushed nickel finish, although the plastic forked body is the same quality as the HD version.When compared to other brands that also offer a real steel cap with suitable finish, the main attribute of the Kohler is that the return branch of the forked body makes a large angle with the vertical and that's very helpful when installing the air gap to empty into the disposal. If you connect to the disposal, the connection is not far below the air gap; with a nearly vertical return tube, you need a sharp elbow, which clogs fairly easily, but with that larger angle, you need only a mild curve.So, 5 star for the cap, 5 star for the larger fork angle if you install the return to the disposal, but just 3 star for the quality of the body (like all others).

Fabulous addition to my kitchen. Easy to install. Looks way better than any of the options Home Depot offered. Def recommend.

Had a new kohler sink installed and bought this to match with the new sink. It looks great and it was easy to install once the sink was drilled.

USED for dishwasher drain

Mala calidad del empaque que maltrata el producto. Por lo que al final tendrán un producto que parece usado. Las tres veces salió mal.
