Delicious and versatile -- a must for any foodie!
.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU ALSO LIKE: Branston Pickle, chutneys, piccalilli, relish, Caribbean food, bananas.I'm not a gambling man, but I'd be willing to bet your first reaction was "BANANA KETCHUP?!!" I know it sounds strange to anyone not already familiar with it, but it tastes delightful. Sweet and tangy, yet mellow at the same time, it can be used as an accompaniment to just about anything. Personally, I hate all forms of tomato ketchup with a passion, but I'll happily eat banana ketchup until I turn yellow and sprout leaves. It's very thick, so expect to spend a fair amount of time banging on the bottle to get any out, but it's well worth the effort.I really want to tell everyone how delicious and versatile this banana ketchup is, so that more people buy it, to secure a market and therefore a supply of this stuff in the country. However, I also want to keep it a secret, so there's more around for me; it's THAT good. So I'm a bit torn.I first encountered this product in the newly-renovated local branch of a big national supermarket chain's expanded international foods section. Always on the lookout for new tastes and culinary experiences, I bought a bottle out of curiosity. And I loved it. While I have yet to try it on fish, as fellow reviewer P. J. Bradbury has had, I can verify that it's also excellent on prawns, chicken, pork, beef, or ostrich, as a dip or in sandwiches. I told a friend and colleague who acquired a taste for this stuff while working on cruise ships in the Caribbean about the availability of this condiment in Britain, and he was delighted. He bought several bottles, and now his whole family's addicted to it. He also says that banana ketchup can also be used as a marinade or during frying. Although I haven't tried it as such myself yet, I reckon it would also taste very nice splattered over a salad. The big national supermarket chain's head office soon decided that a mistake was made and that provincial little Torbay shouldn't have received such a varied and fascinating foreign foods section, and cut it back from a whole aisle to three feet of shelves. Baron's Banana Ketchup was one of the casualties of that cutback. So I went looking for ways to order this product online, and Amazon provided.

Better and tastier than tomato ketchup and much more interesting
On holiday a few years ago in St Lucia I discovered banana ketchup and how delicious it was but I despaired of finding it in England. Eventually I found this on Amazon and I now order half a dozen fairly regularly. My friends were a bit reluctant to try it, imagining it would be too sweet, but I explained that like tomato ketchup does not taste overtly of tomatoes, this doesn't taste overtly of bananas. Instead it is rich and mouth watering and goes well with everything you would have tomato ketchup with, but is more interesting. Cannot recommend highly enough. Vendors also very efficient, my latest order arrived 3 days earlier than predicted

Too sweet
After reading all the great reviews and being familiar with Barons products, I thought I would try the banana ketchup as I`m always game to try something new.Its ok and does taste of banana but its too sweet for my taste, I was hoping for something a bit smoother, has more of a chutney consistency than ketchup and as others have mentioned, not easy to get out of the bottle, would probably be more practical in a jar. Will I get again, probably not

Wonderful stuff!
Perfect with IceBerg Lettuce or Avocado! (Well, I'm not sure anyone else mentioned this?)I love this stuff. Even my fussy mother liked it, and accepted a bottle.Still can't get my partner to try it though. I know why.........it's those two words "banana" and "ketchup" together that sound weird. On that, I do agree! Ketchup should be tomato.Never mind. I am big and brave. I shall keep nagging until he gives up.My biggest problem is getting this stuff out of the bottle.I bought an upside down bottle holder and use a long, thin cocktail stirrer to jiggle it out, but it still needs a goodly whack.Anyway, this is very good. So, I would recommend people try this.

Fantastic Sauce
I could not agree more with other review about how delicious and versatile this sauce is. It reminds me of chinese 5 spice in that you end up adding it to lots of meals because it makes everything taste a bit more interesting. My current favourite is adding it to cheese in sandwiches etc.I would say that calling it Banana Ketchup is slightly misleading as its more like a chutney but either way it is a fantastic sauce.
