Well worth the price. Good quality soft pastels in a quality box at an amazingly low price. Wide range of colors with many gradations. It would be nice if the box had a handle on the outside for carrying purposes.

I am a professional pastel artist and teach a beginner pastel class. I purchased these pastels a few years ago when my journey began with this medium. The pastels are not soft, but hard, but are not the hardest out there. In my opinion, these are of professional quality (some tout they are student grade). Vibrant in richness of color and a good variety of shades from light to dark. I have used these to paint and finish pictures, winning a 1st place award with one. I use these to lay down the initial block in, and most of the layering. I do finish off with softer pastels. This latest purchase of pastels will be used by my students for a good and satisfying experience.

I’ve tried a few pastel brands and this one surprised me. Great pigment, nice texture, no dust mess. If you’re thinking about trying soft pastels, this is the one to get.

These square stick pastels are on the hard side. They do lay down nice color. I break them to get smaller piece to work with.

Very nice set of soft pastels at a fantastic price! Good variety of colors including several different shades of greens and blues, important if you want to draw landscapes. Wooden storage box is great for keeping them without having to buy another container. I think even advanced pastel artists would like this set and beginners will definitely get a great start without spending a fortune.

Decent soft pastels for the price. Not soft and luscious like some professional brands that ooze pigment. They layer decently and are good for line work. Good colour variety. Pastels break and sometimes i break them on purpose :). Using these for mixed media projects. Sealed well with matte medium. Did not loose any of the vibrancy of colour.

This soft pastel holds many great benefits for a soft pastel artist. While it's great for beginners to practice with, it's also great for underpaintings. I get much better results using this chalk under my pastel paintings than using the softer pastels first. This is because it's not as hard as Nupastels, or as soft as Sennelier or Unison for example. To me, it seems somewhat softer than the Rembrandt soft pastels. It has a wonderful palette of beautiful colors which I love! I believe that the quality of this pastel gives it an important role in the soft chalk painting process, and for me it's immeasurable. I also use it for small flowers when I use paper with little tooth, or for those times when I have almost come to the end of the tooth on sanded paper. It leaves a delicate amount of chalk with the right touch. It's also nice to have the squared edges for detail. I highly recommend.

i budgeted for my set over 2 years and im simply delighted with the set on a whole and wonderful wooden case.
