A Thing of Beauty
Quite possibly the best steel currently being manufactured that you can buy. It really is that good. I've used and tried a good number of steels available. F. Dick steels in general are usually fantastic, especially their Dickoron range. The prices are steep, but all reflect the quality you are getting. You're getting what you pay for. While I think £100 is a perfectly acceptable price, some sellers are asking £200 which is just ridiculous, even for the brilliant Dick Multicut. This honing steel will maintain the edge of your knife for longer and is a breeze to use. Varying the pressure you apply helps. Start of with light pressure, and if that doesn't work, apply a bit more, and so on until your knife cuts well. Keep in mind, that there is a common misconception about honing steels, even with this one. They will not put a edge on your knife. For that, you'll need either a grinder or a sharpening stone, with the latter usually either of the whetstone or oilstone variety, and then you'll need to look into grit coarseness and fineness. A honing steel/rod is only there to maintain the edge and increase the sharpness of your blade via the process of honing it. If you're looking for a good quality steel for that purpose, then look no further than this F. Dick Multicut steel. It really is a thing of beauty. My main criticism is that the manufacturer, F. Dick, fails to offer a stable, steady supply, distribution, and availablity of their awesome steels which can be easily bought from known outlets, whether online or on the local high-street. Which is partly why there are some silly asking prices for these steels. I was lucky to snap a new one up here on the marketplace for a little over £100 including delivery. This particular steel comes highly recommended by me. But F. Dick also produce other excellent steels, again amongst the best in the market in my opinion (almost everyone at my workplace uses a steel by F. Dick for good reason), at perhaps more affordable prices.

Great Steel
Bought on a recommendation from a friend that loves his too - after trying his a few times as I was cynical about the different style I was sold - easily brings a dull edge back to filleting and boning knives, great quality from a well know brand, hopefully will last me years as my previous F.Dick has lasted around 10 years of almost daily use!
