Good product and reasonably priced. Comes in plastic travel case so can easily be stored in wash bag and taken on holiday or business travel. Stops bleeds quickly and help heal cuts and nicks after shaving. Not too harsh on skin. Will last long time!

If it stings, your technique failed. That is how I judge my shaves. It works well as a styptic and an antiseptic product. It is a purely natural product that, I can only surmise, will last years before needing replacement!

An absolute necessity for wet shaving… well, certainly for me. It is quite rare that I can shave and not have made some kind of nick or cut on my neck. After washing my face down with cold water I run the alum block over my face and neck and steel myself for a stab of pain. It’s an enjoyable challenge to go for the perfect shave with no cuts and test your success by using the alum… no stinging makes you a winner! I generally lose but then the worth of the block is to seal those small cuts quickly so that nobody need know what a mess I’ve made. And it is very successful in doing that so I can’t fault the product at all, just my own technique! It does (after that initial pain) soothe the neck and has antiseptic qualities which is also a good thing. I always use this, and almost always *need* to use it. The only downside is that the listing no longer indicates that it comes in a plastic box and one of the customer reviews seems to confirm that it doesn’t. That is a real shame as I find the one that came with mine invaluable for keeping the bathroom clean and tidy and it made it more portable.

Back to using a DE safety razor after nine year off it. Found the occasional skin nick as I was getting used to shaving again. Tried a stypic style pen that didn’t do the job saw this alum block. It is a good size that once wetted I use to rub over my shaved face. Tightened the skin and helps stem the flow of blood from the nicks that are getting less as I get my eye back in.

It stop bleeding from razor cut and quicks heals it. It comes in a small box and is very easy to store. But it makes my skin very dry after applying so switching to after shave balm.

Brilliant little bar of stingy stuff … I've used small sticks before, very fiddly, and that's jus5 getting them out of their boxes while your bleeding to death all over the bathroom floor or copiously leaking the red ooze of life into your wife's favourite towels; a danger in itself. This little block is ideal, easily grab-able and it's little plastic box is ideal for storage, I chose this because of the plastic box, some manufacturers use cardboard or paper … not very useful in a bathroom, so brilliant idea … makes for hassle free use. Does exactly what it’s supposed to do when you've been sabre rattling all over your face/head, it speedily seals up all the left over holes that're now leaking your red juice of life all over your bathroom sink - one dab and they're all plugged up good and proper.
