No excuses-Easy to use
I weigh 277 lbs! (19stone 11lb) and can hang from this when attached to my door frame with confidence. When I hang full length and take my feet off the ground my knees are approx 8 inches from the floor so not far to drop. If you are worried about bumping your knees I suggest placing a pillow or gardening knee pad under you. As its early days I cannot do a pull up yet so to keep good form, not jump up and to keep my arms fully extended, I use the seat of a small chair to rest the ball of right foot on. I hang from the bar at full stretch (so I'm in a crouching position)then pull my self up using my arms and then my legs (one under me and the other on the chair) as an aid to help. This way I still get to work out and do full reps by having straight arms at the start. It was really easy to put together, my 3 year old helped me put the bolts in the holes and he used the hex wrench to tighten it, daddy finished it. Build quality is solid, finish is good. There's only 4 bolts so it only took 5 minutes to bolt once unpacked. The bar was solid when assembled.Using the bar to do press ups it's a bit narrow for me, more like doing those press-ups with you finger tips touching and elbows out. I can feel it in my triceps when used for dips (as a beginner) seasoned people will find the movement a bit shallow. I haven't perfected the use for sit-ups, tried once and found the bar lifted when I tried to sit up, I was lifting my legs instead of pulling against the bar.My wife has started to use it with me, using the method above so its a team effort.

Worth buying
I bought this to do pull-ups however my walls are slightly skewed which means I cannot use it for its intended purpose. It hooks onto one frame slightly but feels very risky, I managed 2 before it slipped and brought half of the paintwork with it. I'm 6'2 and my full stretch reaches the bar from having my knees on the ground, anyone taller may struggle. My solution to use this properly will be to screw a piece of wood into the door frame to give more support for the top pivot but that's not ideal. The product itself is not the Iron Gym brand which is definitely misleading. I would probably opt for the cheaper one because of this, that being said it feels decent quality. The top bar is horrible cheap plastic but I assume that's so it doesn't wreck your door frame. The metal bars feel good, time will tell how the foam grips fare, I'm guessing they'll tear with extensive use however. My current use for it is as a push-up aid. It really does offer excellent support for this. The range of motion it allows is ideal, I'd take this over standard hand to the floor push-ups any day of the week. They feel so much more natural using this equipment.Perhaps my 3* review is a little harsh as I've not really used it properly due to my own household circumstances. From the few pullups that I managed the actual metal framework felt sturdy. Just make sure you have a suitable door frame before buying, i.e. one with a definite solid ridge on the hinge side. I also knocked my rating down due to being slightly misled about the brand of product that I was buying, not that it matters too much, I just don't like it when companies do that.Overall I think this product is worth buying for the press up function alone, they really do feel excellent. If you have a door frame that will suit it then buying this is a no brainer, just be warned that it might not work as intended.Edit: I've drilled a wooden support into my door frame and this thing works great. I've upped my review from 3 to 4 stars, felt a little mean leaving it as middle of the range.

good supplement to fitness
I am a female of 8 and a half stone and don't want bulging biceps; I just want some strength in my upper body. I go running several times a week which is great for the lower body, but obviously not so helpful for the upper. I never was a gym bunny, so this item seemed ideal to me.When it arrived I was initially put off by said bulging-bicep model on the box and instruction leaflet, however, the Iron Gym is very easy to put together and fits easily over the door. The only minus was that I couldn't fit the safety wedge over my door frames as there is nowhere for the metal to slide behind the frame. This wasn't a problem though, as it remains firmly on the door without the wedge. As another reviewer mentioned, I find it better to just leave it on the door frame as I can just have a few pull-ups when I go through, without it being an actual 'session'. Only thing with leaving it up is that my husband #6ft 2in# has to duck every time he goes under!I am enjoying using the Iron Gym and it is really helping to build strength in my shoulders and arms - and firm up those bingo wings! Great product, and good value.

Iron gym replica
A replica of the iron gym pull up bar, that won’t last a single training session.

A few adjustments as it did not fit the door frame.
Seems sturdy. Easy to assemble, tad there are 4 screws and it comes with a wrench. And the metal tubes are pretty solid. When assembled it was too wide for the door way. I took off the rubber end caps and cut off 1.5 inches off each side and then put the rubber caps on again. Fits perfectly. I also wanted it higher so on the backside of the door frame I secured a piece of wood that boosts the bar up about 2.25 inches. This will also help with the weight (I’m 220lbs) on the moulding around the door. The only thing that puzzles me is that everything is metal but the bar that rests horizontally on the back of the door frame. It’s plastic. Seems somewhat durable, but I wonder if that will be the thing that might break. We will see.***Update (3 weeks later): solid and functional. I’ve done about 900 chin ups/pull ups on it, and it flexes, but it is sturdy and solid. The foam pads have ripped a bit, but I just use hockey tape and wrap the handles. No other issues. Great purchase.
