New To Low Carb - BUY THIS!
This is a great starter book. It is simple and easy to follow with 99% of the ingredients in Tesco. All key LC skills can be learned here. It is BY FAR better than free online resources. The FREE online stuff is hit and miss more for the experienced LC'er to follow as it is not tested & tweaked to the level of this book.Caveat: make sure you have a good kitchen ready including many knifes & chopping boards, prep bowls and a dish washer & blender - the key MUSTS for busy LC'ers. Basically you need to prepare like a chef this is not Tesco packet food this is all made by you from scratch. Many fail the transition simply by not investing in good kitchen utilities (and base ingredients) as they have lived for years on processed out a box into a pan/oven/mico tray living. Audit your kitchen and pantry before you begin. My only concern is the cheeky pudding section (with fructose) at the end. While not day-to-day I agree with the author putting it in as a treat section does no harm and rounds out learning. I removed the Fructose for Sweetener without issue.

Misleading
This book has got some very good recipes in it, and I like the spiral binding which means it stays open BUT it's big drawback is in the desserts section. Desserts are always a problem when following a low carb diet, but this book has some tempting recipes except they all substitute sugar with fructose. Now fructose (fruit sugar) is much lower on the GI scale and therefore far better for diabetics but carb-wise it's exactly the same as sugar!! It would have been far better to use a granular sweetner like Splenda in these recipes, which would have been low GI AND low carb. You can't just swap one for another either as fructose is sweeter than sugar so you need a lower weight of it (I suppose that's a little carb saving). However this book is not called the "Low GI Cookbook" or the "Diabetics Cookbook" but "Low Carb", which I think is misleading.

Looks interesting. Uk measurements, very good quality book
Just received book and it looks interesting. Good quality paper, uk measurements, not many photos but sure I can manage without. 216 pages altogether and they are long and narrow ie 11.5 x 6.5 inches.Lots of recipes are for 1 or 2 otherwise 4 which is good. Each recipe has carb count but no other count ie calories etc. There doesn’t seem to be any difficult to source ingredients. Looking forward to delving in and cooking. PS there are only 8 pages 20 recipes with desert recipes

Plenty of choice in this book
Some of the ingredients in the book were either not liked by either myself or my husband, that’s what you get with picky eaters! Overall I am pleased with this book and have used it for a couple of the menus

Oh my goodness....LOVE this!
This is such a nice size cook book, has beautiful pictures, nice thick, silky pages, great intro information (you can see that on the "look inside" feature), and a terrific index. OH...and then there are the RECIPES! Simple ingredients, simple instructions and mmmmm! Some of the recipes are "no-brainers" and REALLY simple, but I appreciate that so much. The super simple ones are still meals I probably wouldn't think of to "put together"....like the "smoked salmon omelet"...the "melon & feta salad"....or the "chicken, avacado, & arugula wrap"... yum! There are other creative recipes too with more ingredients, but still manage to be simple...like "chicken tikka" or the "slow-cooked Indonesian beef"...I was especially surprised (and thrilled) with the "griddled venison with berry sauce"...as I have venison steaks in my freezer I never know what to do with...and it is delicious! The recipes sound complicated or like they would have strange and expensive ingredients, but I have not found that to be the case at all. I am not a big dessert eater, so I've not tried a lot of those recipes. However, the "chocolate hazelnut whip"....OH MY!! It has heavy cream, Nutella, brandy, a couple of our farm egg whites....mmmmmm! There is also a recipe for "mocha brownies" (15 g. carb per square). Haven't tried them "yet"! Okay...I'm getting hungry now....time to go! LOL! ENJOY!

Fabulous!
I love this book so much I bought several for holiday gifts. So many of us, married or not, often cook for one or two and this book is perfect. The pictures are great, recipes straighforward, fabulous paper, lays flat on the counter (thank, God). You'll love this book. Everyone I gave it too loves it esp. by teenage nephew! "Heh Dad, can we try these recipes?".
