Really good: compact, sharp, efficient
Previously had a mandolin 'system' but it was too cumbersome, this however easily fits stacked away. The blade is predictably sharp (thus an obligatory mention to mind your fingers, and better yet buy cut-resistant gloves.) The purchase was in part a curiosity thing, however I have no regrets and have easily incorporated it into my kitchen. For most things, as expected I use the chef knife, however the mandolin comes in handy for repetative slicing of veg (e.g. potatoes), fruit (especially for a G&T), and even chorizo. The tool is lightweight, comes with a plastic cutting guard to hold the fruit or veg. I find that handy, but iinevitably you'll put it aside in favour of just using your hands for speed and dexterity...then you'll lose concentration and forget just how efficient the device is...that's where the cut-proof gloves come in handy. There are 4 levels of cut thickness, in my experience the 3rd and 4th (largest) are the only real usable ones. However, there is probably some fruit or vegetable that the thinnest cuts were crafted for, with those in mind.At around 20 quid, this is worth it. After a couple of get togethers where the G&T's are flowing, you'll believe that it paid for itself. However, you'll find it useful for so much more.

Super Slicer
Some mixed reviews on this produce of which some are downright missleading. EG. Dangerous as it does not have a safe directional holder fot the last slices-YES IT DOES, the nylon holder provided has two ridges which slide beautifully along the body of the slicer.I regularly use it when I am getting down to the last few slices on the sweet potatoe that I am slicing, and I regularly get down to the last slice with no prob. And I do a lot of sweet potatoes 8 at a time to make the nices chrisps you ever tasted and without any rubbish addatives, in my dehydrator.Find a plastic box to place the slicer accross- the Morrisons klip and lock 1Ltr food storer is perfect, the slicer latches on to it and is very stable-Slice away!!!.Yes and take the basic sensible precations when using it and dont use it as a cricket bat.DavidSorry for any spelling errors, never my strong point!

How did I live without it?
This is very good, makes amazing slices quite easily with little waste. The hand guard appears to be a bit clumsy to use but it works well. I'm very pleased.

Okay product
The product is sharp, easy to adjust and clean, and doesn't take much storage space. However, it's handling is not quite ideal - it's designed to sit over a bowl, but it's best used at an angle which is not achievable if placed horizontally over the lip of a bowl. Bottom line, I use mine all the time, but if you have a little more money to splash and storage space, consider investing in a proper mandoline with a stand and different blade options.

Four Stars
Super sharp. Need to very very careful as it's plastic so it may break easily.

Poor Build Quality - Only gives Micro Slices little to no adjustment - Disappointed
I took some time deciding on which mandolin to buy and by the description given this item filled the bill, four slices for 0.5 to 3 mm. First the unit was light weight and felt tacky as if it would stand up to prolonged use, secondly the slice adjustment was a bar underside the slicer bed that you had to twist, stopping at the required slice width this also felt very light weight and plastic it also gave very little movement giving only thin or thinner slices, all in all it didn't do what it said on the box. I returned it for a refund, I'm still looking for simple slicer that gives a variety of slice widths.

Excellent product
Really like to use it. It is simple to use, simple to clean amd very effective. You can not fancy cuts but to prepare mexican or peruvian thinly sliced vegi it is really great. Recommend straight away

Easy to use
I've found this really useful to get really thin slices from onions, beetroot, etc.Only downside is that it does flex a bit. Could be sturdier.
