The Official Cambridge Guide to IELTS Student's Book with Answers with DVD-ROM

I'm a professional ESL teacher. I bought this book to help my students. The CD contains all the audio and video. Note that the technology it depends on is a bit dated. To make it work, you will need to install AdobeFlash 11. Since AdobeFlash has been discontinued, you will have to find the legacy program from a trustworthy archive. Conversely, you can extract the files in some other way you see fit. Regarding the textbook, this is a very complete product. 400 pages. Full color. Nice, thick, semi-matte paper. The first 153 pages are dedicated to each aspect of the exam. The general and academic papers are covered separately. Next, there are 8 full-length practice exams. However, it does not specify whether they are for the general or academic papers. On examination of the texts, I would say that they are a mixture of the two. So, ideally, I would use these to get the students acquainted with the format and the skills they need to develop and I would supplement with the Cambridge past papers that are specific for each track, academic or general, that are widely available for purchase on Amazon. It goes without saying that the audio scripts and answers are included, which makes it ideal for self-study. Have the students self-assess each practice paper and use the contact hours to address questions they have and clarify the mistakes they have made. My final takeaway is that this is an excellent worktext (textbook/workbook combo) to have in your arsenal to teach the IELTS class.

It was very detail and easy to understand with practice tests and reference materials. I passed with a band score of 8 on first sitting. I highly recommend this when preparing for either the Academic or General IELTS exams.

The edition has lots of material but is not clear what’s the level.. it helps to get familiar with but not really for the test.. the cd is not the best is poor in trial tests and exercises or too easy or too difficult.. it helps probably to get familiar with some some exercise but is better so do lots of tests than this.. anyway is not that expensive and some stuff are ok but you will need extra lessons etc

Im that type of person who reads review first before buying a thing since i dont wanna waste my money. it also include the audio CD thanks to the handlers for not forgetting to put it. I got the score i need in order to get in the university here in Canada thanks to this book. Very good book for preparing the certificate on your own or for a teacher to use as teaching material. Has detailesd practice exercises with explanations and then tests as well . It has interesting listenings, clear writing asignments with clear explanations on how it should be done, speaking units , reading, everything. Very well organised, clear, easy to use to teach.
