Sorry! - The Complete Collection
Ronnie Corbett is of course a comic genius and national treasure! And this box set of 'Sorry!' is a timeless classic in my opinion. The theme tune alone is instantly recognisable, the casting is superb, the scripts are perfect and the comedy first class. For anyone too young to remember this one, just get them to sit down and watch one episode - they will be hooked! Corbett's performances are spot on and his timing is brilliant, just like in The Two Ronnies! And it's almost impossible to pick out a single episode that's better than the others as they're all so funny - but of course the running theme throughout is Timothy's Lumsden's many futile and hopeless attempts to escape from the stifling constraints of his impossibly difficult mother!! ... and naturally to find a lasting romance that isn't also thwarted by his mother!! In fact it takes him several painstaking decades to achieve this, but he eventually (a mercifully) succeeds by the use of a strategically parked hot air balloon!! No doubt relieved he no longer has to have his morning toast cut into soldiers any more by his well meaning mother... A gem of a sitcom, now all in one box!!

A Real Gem
A wonderful series that for me has hidden depths and works on more than one level. Look beneath the veneer of an amusing sitcom and one uncovers a dark, melancholy and truly tragic tale of 40-something year old Timothy Lumsden who simply cannot break free of his maternal ties and the parental home. Time and again throughout his saga he misguidedly sacrifices his own happiness for the sake of his utterly possessive mother, whom his own life revolves around. This is surely tragic, and more so when one is aware that there is absolutely nothing preventing him from breaking free and making his own life, except himself. If only he would stand up to his mother then her power over him would crumble. Many people I'm sure will identify with at least some aspects of Timothy's situation. We all have to grow up and finally leave the parental home at some point, and for some people the process can be an emotional upheaval. This is cut above the run-of-the-mill type sit-com and has real human drama at its core. Highly recommended.

Good, clean, wholesome comedy, and a joy to watch
Got this yesterday after ordering it on Saturday. It contains all seven series of the classic 80's sitcom on 7 discs, which was written, I believe, with Ronnie Corbett in mind as the principal character; a 40-something bachelor who lives at home with his mum and dad. His mum, it seems, just cant accept the fact that her son is not a 5-year-old any more and treats him accordingly, whilst he tries to break free from the apron strings.I know it's a clichéd saying but they really don't make comedy like this anymore; good, clean, wholesome comedy, and a joy to watch. The visual quality of the episodes is vary good; not HD sharp but still pretty good. The only extras this package comes with is commentary on a couple of episodes in Series One, and an interview with Ronnie in Series Two.It's great to watch this again and again. Never gets dull.

Feel good TV from a comedy legend!
Being still very young towards the end of the original transmission of 'Sorry!' I hadn't actually watched (or heard of it) until one day a couple of years when I caught an episode by chance on Gold - I was instantly hooked - shortly after I purchased this boxset and watched it in its entirety over a couple weekends. I've recently re-watched them and I love the series more than ever - real feel good TV from a bygone era - brilliant stuff! A firm 5 stars for the late great Ronnie Corbett here!

Wonderful nostalgia and well acted comedy
This is in my opinion suburban situation comedy at it's best. As with many of the classic comedies, such as Rising Damp, fantastic comedy is derived from the most mundane of situations and a small core of characters are excellently portrayed by fine actors. Whilst some of the situations may appear dated to some I believe the quality of the writing and the acting of the central characters shines through. As others have mentioned it is a great piece of nostalgia as well and my partner (not really into sitcoms) remarked on the fantastic theme tune.
