My son’s favorite book series
This is my son’s favorite book series, and I keep stealing the books to read them myself. The author writes so well - JK Rowling quality in descriptions it’s hard to out down. My son is only eight, and I do not find the ideas in it too old for him. And as an adult, it is totally entertaining!

My kids got me hooked
My kids are obsessed with this series and they got me to read the entire series over winter break. It was a really fun series! Made for 8+ but I know plenty of teens who read it. Just enough action and teen angst to keep the story moving and the author keeps everything PG (nothing gory, violent, or sexual).

Middle School Fantasy
I was on the sixth book and was repeatedly renewing it from my local library and eventually I decided to just buy a copy of my own. The book was received in excellent condition and while I'm not finished reading this hefty tome (it's north of 800 pages after all!) I enjoy the story well enough to keep me interested in the characters it's not mindblowingly profound or as sketch out with worldbuilding as some fantasy novels are, but this series is definitely driven by characters and character interactions more than the story itself- which isn't egregious by any means. If you like teen drama gilded in fantasy overlay chances are you will find this series appealing, though being the sixth book you would already know that. With all of that being said I do feel that as of the sixth book the plot should have developed more than what we're getting I don't know when this series will end but I know there are 2 or 3 or possibly 4 more titles to this series; I find that a bit too unnecessarily drawn out considering we have learn so very little about the Neverseen and the Ogers, but mainly the Neverseen. Without point-of-view chapters from the villains of the story and with them seldomly appearing betwixt novels it's difficult to sew them as fluid living persons. I feel as though all the really important plot points could be condensed to 3 books instead of 6 I think this series could have ended with the 6th or 7th book.Nevertheless, I'm hooked on this series and while I have taken several hiatuses betwixt reads I will always come back eager to see what Sophie and Keefe are up to. I say them specifically because that's who this entire story revolves around they are the most developed interesting characters in the series by far. I do also like Grady but again he's a character seldom seen at any length to see his character in action. I do greatly recommend this read to anyone keen to youth-teen fiction especially elementary to pre-teens.

Still good books! They didn't get "tired" through the progression of the series.
I'm just going to talk about the series, not this individual book, because they're all good and can't really write a detailed review without throwing in spoilers, so....."The Keeper of the Lost Cities" books are really fun to read. There's magic, intrigue, suspense and a little romance but it's not the focus of the plot and it's clean enough for grade school children if they are interested in the series. The books are fun but surprisingly substantive, model good behavior/relationships (without bashing you over the head with it or just being so painfully obvious that you find yourself rolling your eyes or skipping a few lines ahead) and can give you something to talk about with your kids. If you don't have kids then these books are just fun to read for yourself! The series is more low key (less violent/high stakes) than ""The Beyonders" but kind of feels the same way to read for me. If you liked The Beyonders, Harry Potter or some of the Tamora Pierce books- I'd say it feels most like "The Immortals" series, which was my favorite- then you'll probably like this too. I read a few reviews somewhere that said they thought it was copying Harry Potter and not being very original about it...I really do not agree. The material feels very fresh and original. There's obviously some overlap in any kind of fantasy but I'm pretty quick to feel that books are tedious/unoriginal (yet still read them...all) but I really just didn't get that feeling with these. I've read them more than once, which for me is 'the sign' that something was really worth reading the first time!

Good print and Good story
Amazing series. It’s got me and my partner hooked. Captivating world and battles and great penmanship from the author. What I dislike is that this book is a really good quality used book passed on as new book.

WHHHHHYYYYY!!!!!!
WHY! I finally finish the series to but another, CLIFF HANGER!!!! Sorry let me start over. There are way to many spoilers to explain the book, so I'll be reviewing the series. So Keeper of the Lost Cities is a great book for kids who love romance and adventure. Before I didn't love romance, but now I'm open to suggestions. I started this series because all my favorites authors were busy making another book and I needed a book to fill in the Three months so I bought this, not expecting much, but found hilarious comic relief, quotes, and simply things that relate to other books like Lord of the Rings, or Harry Potter. Which I adore both. I instantly fell in love with the characters and began to later wonder about their side of the story. What are they experiencing? I love how Shannon made her characters and world. And the stuff she uses for explanations are funny and make sense. Now for those so much spoilers. I think that Dex and Sophie are better as friends, but really Sophie, you have to pull the Kiss-and-break-your-heart thing! I mean come on! We all knew he had a crush on Sophie! And I'm pretty sure Keefe likes her too. As Della said in book one "Oh wow, you'll be a heart breaker." And sadly she is.Well I have to say that this is definitely worth the five stars I have, and if you check the reviews, there are no one stars! I can't wait for the next one!!!
