Colt Tactical Gear Black Heavy Duty Nylon MOLLE Vest

Anyone who buys one of these vests is either looking for a part for a Halloween Costume or they're looking for a rugged piece of gear that will stand up to hard use.Those looking for a costume can stop reading now. This vest will work for Halloween.If you're looking for a rugged piece of gear read on.I bought this vest primarily as a magazine carrier for my wife. She is a very petite woman who owns and loves her MPA-30. Unfortunately, hanging her mag pouches from a belt, even a belt with suspenders wasn't comfortable and left no room for any other gear, hence the purchase of this vest. More about the wife later.Considering the price of the vest I expected that it would be made with middle-of-the-road materials, not bad but not the best materials available. To my happy surprize this vest is made of very good, almost top-of-the-line, materials. The main body of the vest is made of a heavier material for strength but, unlike some of the heavier materials, this vest material was very flexable without any real stiffness.All of the seams look to be double sewn and all edges on the vest are covered with a sewn on "bead" to protect the edge of the vest from wear and to protect the wearer from being scratched by the stiff edge material.All MOLLE straps have been heavily bar tacked throughout the length of the straps making it almost impossible to tear a strap away from the vest, no matter how much weight is brought to bear on any individual strap.The zippers, buckles and snap hooks are all of high quality. The zippers are double stitched. The buckles and snap hooks look to be made of a high quality ABS plastic which should last for years of tough activity.The shoulders are lightly padded to, I guess, cut down on bulk and weight, and are easily adjustable using the Velcro straps.Adjustment for the girth is accomplished through straps and buckles along each side.After making adjustments to the vest and having my wife try it on, I next went "string hunting." You know, looking for the long threads that are sometimes found along seams and zippers. I might, maybe found two loose strings which tells me that whoever made this vest paid a lot of attention to quality and detail. EVERY sewn area of the vest had those random strings removed before we received it and I didn't find one seam or sewn area loose, crooked or wrinkled. It is one well built garment.I mounted four magazine pouches containing three 32 rd mags each to the vest, two in front, two in back, and there was still room of other gear.The belt that was included I cut down to fit my wife and her primary pistol, magazines, knife and canteen all fit well on the belt. With the belt attached to the bottom of the vest it makes it more comfortable for her because the bulk of the load is being carried on her shoulders, not her hips.The reason that I only gave this vest four stars is because Colt needs to offer other size options. I know that this one-size-fits-most is somewhat of an industry standard, but the manufacturers need to offer smaller sizes for women, teens and below average sized men.Bottom line, this vest looks as if it will stand up to years of rough handeling and should meet almost anyone's needs when it comes to a load bearing vest. I'm sure that you can find a more expensive vest and maybe one that's a little more durable, but considering the quality of all of the materials, the quality of the workmanship and the price, I doubt you'd find a better vest anywhere.

I bought this to use for search and rescue. I love the load bearing belt. The vest is very comfortable and was easy for me to customize with the varying molle gear. This thing is a great value and I've recommended it to many other people.Pros:side straps make it easy to fitshoulders are velcro for a customized fithas a small net inside at the back that I use to hold a bladder for watervelcro strips for nametapesCons:I found the belt difficult to adjust down to my size and the shoulder adjustment wouldn't go much smaller either. I'm about average size but maybe a bit thinner than average. I was able to get it adjusted but it took a little bit. I wouldn't recommend this for very small people.One of the snaps on the belt keepers broke when I took it out of the packaging. I probably should have called the manufacturer but it doesn't impact performance so I don't really care that much. I was initially concerned about quality but after six months of use I am really happy with it.

...misleading title aside, I honestly can't believe I was able to get this for only $30.00 USD. The MOLLE straps are sturdy, the vest is snug, and the adjustment straps are easy to use. Great value, better vest.I'm using it for airsoft but it also has real-life applications for firearm enthusiast. It accommodates my MOLLE pistol holster and real Glock 17 as well for example.

When it comes to vests, a few trips in the washing machine and it's usually falling apart. I just got the vest so I'll have to wait and see but so far so good. It seems well made and tough. If you're looking for some extra protection this is perfect, if you're looking for something as light weight and thin as possible, you may want to consider something else. This might get a little hot in the winter.

Had high hopes for this item but when I received it the first thing I noticed was the belt had very poor stitching. Not a problem because for the price I would just take the belt off and do some patch stitching. When I undid the snaps of the snap & Velcro belt loops 2 of the 6 come apart.Will send back but not entirely happy that I have to pay initial postage. On the bright side they indicated "Your return postage cost will also be refunded back to you as well". Will updated when I get the replacement.

Too small. For guys who wear maybe large shirt. Otherwise us big guys, these won't fit.

Great construction and sweet design. Feels very durable and has lots of room for adjustments. The only reason it's not a 5 star is cause of the belt. I've got a 32" waist and this belt is far too big at its smallest setting. I want my belt snug to hold my gear down tight. With some modification it will work but annoyed a basic waist size isn't covered. Overall great vest.

I purchased this vest to contain batteries and controller for an LVAD .That is a big deal to a person with a partial artificial heart!that you so much! Ed Faulkner La Plata Maryland
