Q: I see from previous questions that this works on linux (confirmed on ubuntu 16.04) but will this work with a setup plex or emby server ? ) i`m new to

I haven't tried it with Plex on Ubuntu (the only Ubuntu rig I have is running 14.04 and the hardware would be pushing it to run as a Plex server) but I received this today and have it running with my Windows 10 Plex server with no problems. You get a warning that it's 'Community Supported' but so far as I can see there's no problems. Assuming the Linux drivers are equally compliant, the hardware is fine.

Q: Will it display a small 'in front' picture at the same time as another running program?

No, it would not show with another program. it basically would if it had an always in the front feature, but you can listen to the volume while clicking around PC TV.Double click for always in front and a second double click for full screen.

Q: Will this work on a mac?

All I can say that it works well on Window 10 while few others I tried failed. I do not use mac so I am afraid, I would not know if it works on mac.

Q: has anybody got this working with linux?

It worked straight away, no problem. Use it with TV Headend or DVB utils
