The Harbour Island Story Paperback – January 1, 2008

Clearly written by historians with an intimate knowledge of the people, places and things that made Briland the remarkable outpost, settlement and now tourist destination it is today. I particularly loved the wreckers, privateer and pirate chapters, and the weather related chapters, with memories of storms pre-dating scientific records. Ship building dominated the island economically and visually for over a century, what a sight it must have been to see a 120 foot ship's skeleton parked on Girl's Flats at low tide in the setting sun, powerful. It was dry reading in some parts, but keep reading and you will find gems throughout the text.

great book for anyone who wants to know H I history.
