STAEDTLER 120-2 Noris Graphite Pencils - HB (Box of 12)

Always been good quality pencils. just the right level softness of the graphite for writing or rough sketching.

I recently started sketching for the first time ever and realised I need to use the correct pencils to get the best results. This box of 12 pencils arrived already sharpened and when I needed to sharpen them again it was easy and the lead did not break-off. I am new to using these pencils so not an expert to comment, I can only say how I found them and they were smooth, soft to use and great for a beginner like me. Another important point to mention is when you rub out/erase a mistake, it rubs out clear with no traces of what you have rubbed out, perfect for sketching. I did a bit of research online and it seems that B pencils are the ones to use for sketching. I decided on Staedtler because they were a name I recognised and they have been around for a long time. The quality is really great and the difference in the no name brand ones I was previously using and these ones was noticably different. The price of under £4 for 12 makes these very affordable and should last a long time.

You can usually pick up "standard" HB pencils in many places, but the reason I always choose 2B is that the lead's soft enough to erase/alter notes easily without leaving a trace as a harder HB would, and they're also a pleasure to write with -- nice and smooth. Staedtler is a good make: reliable, and their pencils sharpen well. Mine arrived very promptly by standard mail from Caboodle, though unfortunately the box had only been put into a thin plastic envelope without any padding or protection -- not the postie's fault as he didn't know what they were, but on being pushed through the letterbox the pack fell onto a hard tiled floor and I hope the pencils survived the impact without any of the leads breaking. However that's an observation about the supply, not the product, and I have no hesitation in giving these pencils 5 stars for consistently excellent quality.

There are probably many varieties of pencils as there are jobs for them. As for me, the HB pencils stocked by Tradeur store come off as the best. The point is soft and you do not need to press the paper hard for the writing to be visible. Talking of the writing, it comes very smooth and sharp without paint falling off as other pencils do. They are also pleasure to write with as they fit properly in your fingers. For artists, this comes off as a serious choice as the work you might be working on right now! I would strongly recommend the Tradeur store on these pencils. Further, the shipping was done in a timely manner and the items arrived in time. The customer service in this store is superb and kept to their word that the items would arrive in time and in good shape. Thanks for the good work you do here.

Good quality B pencil. I work exclusively in pencil for my university studies and get through a couple of boxes a term. They sharpen well and the leads have so far not broken on me, I transport these everyday loose in my bag to lectures and they've held out fine. The colour is nice and clear and they aren't scratchy while taking notes. Well worth the price, my only problem is they should come in bigger boxes :) I tend to use them with grips as they are hexagonal and dig into my fingers, however I get this with most hexagonal pencils. They also fit most standard eraser toppers.

Bought this set for GCSE art. Good quality and value for money.

This is a more professional looking pen for people who want something more adult than the pencils they used in grade school. These have a nice feel, they write well, smoothly, and you get a good grip. I especially like the yellow and black lines and the top. They're made with "upcycled" wood. I guess that means recycled (?) Also the price is excellent. Note: No eraser. I've never had a pencil with a decent eraser. What i prefer (and Amazon has) is the Pentel Clic Eraser, Retractable, Pocket Clip, Rubber Grip, Black Barrel (PENZE22A). Staedtler is a trusted name you can trust. Before trying a mechanical pencil, consider this. I think it's so much better all-around.
